4. Will; 1 Nov 1767; Salem, Essex Co., MA 1 5. Last Will and Testament of Archibald Greenfield IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN. Archibald Greenfield of Salem in the county of Essex an New England. Mariner being weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory, Thanks be given to God & calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, Do make and ordain this my last will and testament in the following manner; that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executor hereafter named, And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner. In primis I give to my wife MARY GREENFIELD the rent of my dwelling house where her son THOMAS GAUTER and her son-in-law JOSEPH ANTHONY now dwell for the term of one year after my decease.

ITEM: I give to my Nephew JOHN LYALL and to his heirs and assign forever all my houses and lands in Queen Ann's County Maryland.
ITEM: I give to my wife MARY the use and improvement of my now dwelling house that stands in my garden with half the garden during her natural life . I also give to my said wife a large black walnut table and one iron pot which she shall choose and all her own household furniture which she brought with her to me and all the wood I have in the wood house and barn with the meat in the house.

ITEM: I give to my daughter ELIZABETH ALGER and her heirs and assign forever one-fourth part of my estate both real and personal
ITEM: I give and bequeath to my two sons viz. STARR ARCHIBALD GREENFIELD and JAMES GREENFIELD and to their heirs and assign forever all the residue and remainder of my estate both real and personal.
Lastly I hereby constitute & appoint DAVID SMITH of Salem sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other wills and testaments ratify & confirming this my & no other to be my last will and testament.
