The Congregational Church in Bolton was organized in 1725; the first Congregational Church of Vernon in 1762. The records of these Churches have been printed in the New England Historical and Genealogical Register and May be found therein as follows:

Then Charles King Capt Jonth Burge & Saul Alvord Selectmen for the Town of Bolton went Personally to Mr. David Allis' House in sd Bolton and warned one Nathaniel Walker (which Lived in sd Allis' House) to Depart forthwith out of sd Bolton with his wife & Children & to Return no moah. 1776 Febr ye 5th Test-Saul Alvord Town Clerk.
Decemr. 24th 1776. Then Benjamin Talcott Esqr and Mr. Charles King Selectmen for the Town of Bolton went to David Dorchester's and warned the widow Wells who formerly Livd in North Bolton to depart out of sd Town forthwith.
