          WHITMORE, Francis, Middletown. Invt. £685-19-05. Taken 8 May, 1750, by Jonathan ALLYN and Timo: BIGELOW. Will dated 4 April 1748.

          I, Francis WHITMORE of Middletown, do make this my last will and testament: I give unto Mary, my well-beloved wife, the equal third part of all my personal estate after my just debts and funeral charges are paid, and the improvement of the equal half of my dwelling house and cellar, and the use of 1-3 part of my barn and the 1-3 part of all my improved lands during her natural life. I give to my grandson Francis WHITMORE, the only son of my eldest son Francis WHITMORE, Jr., decd., 7 acres of land which joyns Nathan SAYRE's and HAMILTON's land; and to the six daughters of my sd. son, namely, Sarah, Mary, Isabel, Susannah, Zerviah and Abigail, to each the sum of £10. I give to my son Jacob WHITMORE 15 acres of land joyning the Connecticut River, Harris's meadow, Lemuel LEE"s land and Daniel PRYOR's land; and half of the land I have in the lott that did belong to John BOARN, adjoining a highway, Daniel LUCAS's land, and on my own land; and 1-5 part of all that part of my Kent lott that lyes on the west of the highway by Samuel BROOKS's. I give to my son Daniel WHITMORE that 6 acres of land that I bought of Samuel HURLBUT, and 4 acres adjoining Daniel PRYOR's land. I give to my son Nathaniel WHITMORE all that place where he now dwells, bounded west on a highway. I give to my son Ebenezer WHITMORE all the land adjoining to the land where his house stands, and all the land lying between 10 acres of land that I have given him by deed of gift. I give to my son Hezekiah WHITMORE, and to his heirs and assigns forever, all my dwelling house and barn and the land on which they stand, bounded northerly on Daniel PRYOR's land, west on a highway by sd. highway till it comes two lotts southward of the north fence of my son-in-law John DAVIS. I give to my daughter Margery, the wife of John DAVIS, and to her heirs forever, all my land that lyes between the lands of Nathan SAYRES and the land herein given to my son Hezekiah. I give to my daughter Elizabeth, the wife of Peter MORGAN, and to her heirs and assigns forever, all that 25 acres of land which I bought of Zachariah HUBBARD. And all the remaining part of all my personal estate (after my just debts and funeral charges and legacies are paid and 1-3 part taken out for my wife) I give to my four daughters, Margery, Hannah, Elizabeth and Abigail, in equal parts. And I further give to my daughter Hannah £100 old tenor, to be paid by my son Hezekiah aforsd. I also give to my daughter Abigail £60 old tenor, to be paid her by my son Ebenezer. I appoint my two sons, Jacob WHITMORE and Daniel WHITMORE, executors.
