Will of Benjamin Carter

In the name of God Amen- I Benjamin Carter of Killingworth in the County of Middlesex and State of Connecticut- enjoying a good state of health- being of sound and disposing mind and memory and understanding through the mercy of God do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following- First and principally I resign my Soul with the utmost humility in to the hand of almighty God my creator humbly hoping for a blessed immortality though the merits and mediation of my blessed savior and redeemer Jesus Christ and my body I desire may be decently buried at the discretion of my heirs- and as for ? Estate as the Lord in his great goodness and mercy hath interested me to be steward of, I give devise and dispose thereof as follows-

Firstly. I will that all my debts and funeral expenses paid out of my moveable Estate after which I give and bequeath to my dear and beloved wife Phebe, the one third of all my moveable and disposable estate to remain hers forever-

Item. I give and bequeath to my Son Benjamin ninety three Dollars & fifty Eight cents which he has already received-

Item. I give and bequeath to my Son Stephen, Seventeen Dollars fifty cents which he has already received-

Item. I give and bequeath to my Son William Twenty Seven Dollars & thirty four cents which he already has received-

Item. I give and bequeath to my Son George fifteen Dollars which he has already received-

Item. I give and bequeath to my Son Samuel Two hundred and fifteen dollars which he has already received-

Item. I give and bequeath to my Son Silas Twenty Dollars which he has already received-

Item. I give to my Daughter Phebe Seventy Dollars which she has already received-

Item. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Jane Seventy three Dollars which she has already received-

Item. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Deborah one hundred and twelve Dollars which she has already received-

Item. I give to my Daughter Bula ten Dollars which she has already received-

The whole of my personal or moveable Estate not otherwise mentioned or disposed of I give and bequeath to my four Daughters-vis. Phebe Jane Deborah & Bulah to be equally divided between them to share and share alike including the several sums that each one has received-

Lastly I do make constitute and appoint my Son William Executor of this my last Will & Testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 19th day of June In the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred & nine.

At the present Term of this court the foregoing last Will & Testament of Benjamin Carter late of Killingworth decd having been found proved and approved and ordered to be recorded and the executer therein names declined ? the court ? from George Carter of said Killingworth was appointed administrator of the goods _ ? credits of said estate with the said Will and Testament accepted and gave Bond accordingly , to Law

The Creditors to the Estate of said Benjamin Carter late of Killingworth deceased, are limited and allowed the term of six months in which to exhibit their claims against said estate, the said administrator ? debts ? is ? and said administrator will cause this order to be published in some newspaper printed in New Haven and on the sign post in the 1st Society of said Killingworth.

Asa Woodstock _ Asa Watrous and Charles Carter all of said Killingworth indifferent freeholders are appointed to appraise the Estate of Benjamin Carter late of Killingworth decd real and personal being first and to act in the premises in all respects according , to Law

Distribution of the Estate of Deacon Benjamin Carter late of Killingworth deceased made out by us the subscribers this 7th day of Nov. 1832 being qualified as the law directs-

Set out the Heirs of Phebe Kelsey-the Eldest Daughter In personal Estate as on file $144.711/2

Set to the Heirs of Jane Beull the 2d Daughter In personal Estate as on file $144.711/2

Set to Deborah Meigs the 3rd Daughter In personal Estate as on file $144.711/2

Set to the Heirs of Bula Witter 4th Daughter In personal Estate as on file $144.711/2
