          BUTLER, Joseph, Middletown. Invt. £131-00-00. Taken 22 December, 1746, by Francis WHITMORE and Francis CLARK.

          Court Record, Page 22 (Vol XVI) 7 May 1751: Whereas, Adms. was granted on the estate of Joseph BUTLER unto Francis WHITMORE, which Francis is now deceased and not having finished his Adms., this Court now grant letters unto Benoni HORTON of Middletown, who gave bond with Jacob WHITMORE of sd. town.

          Page 23 -- 12 May, 1751: This Court appoint Benoni HAUGHTON to be guardian of Haughton Dorne BUTLER, aged 9 years, and Mary BUTLER, aged 11 years, children of Joseph BUTLER, decd. Recog., £500.

          Page 35 -- 25 September, 1751: Patience BUTLER, alias CROSMAN, relict of Joseph BUTLER, now moves to this Court that her thirds or right of dowry in the real estate be set out to here: Whereupon this Court appoint Mr. William ROCKWELL, Joseph HUBBERD and Daniel JOHNSON to set out to the widow her thirds.
