          BIGELOW, Samuel, Middletown. Invt. £3023-02-02. Taken 23 February, 1748-9, by Ebenezer DART and Benjamin HARRIS. Will dated 14 October, 1748.

          I, Samuel BIGELOW of Middletown, in the County of HArtford, do make and ordain this my last will and testament: I give to Mehetabell, my wife, the sole improvement of my house and land whereon I now dwell so laong as she shall remain my widow, and also all my moveable estate to be at her dispose, she paying those legacies hereafter named. I give to my sons, Timothy, Isaac and Samuel, all my land to be equally divided between them (they providing for and supporting their mother in case she be reduced to want), to them and their heirs forever. I give to my daughter Abigail £30 old tenor, to be paid by my executrix in convenient time after my decease. I give to my daughter Mary £30 old tenor, to be paid by my executrix. I give to Elizabeth SPENCER, my wife's daughter, £15 old tenor, to be paid by by executrix. I also make Mehetabell, my wife, sole execurtrix of this my last will.

          Court Record, Page 107 -- 1st Tuesday in September, 1749: The last will and testament of Dr. Samuel BIGELOW, late of Middletown, was now exhibited in Court by Mehetabell BIGELOW, widow and executrix. Proven. Also exhibited an inventory. Both accepted and ordered to be recorded.
