In the year 1718, April 21, Rev. Samuel Torrey was invited to become their minister and continued until his dismissal in 1726. Sept. 9, 1728, Rev. Peleg Heath became pastor. During his pastorate the church edifice was removed from the old site, near the present residence of George Gladding, Esq., and rebuilt on its present location, on land given by Joshua Bicknell, Esq. Rev. Solomon Townsend succeeded Mr. Heath in 1743 and continued pastor until his death, Dec. 25, 1796. Rev. Samuel Watson of Barrington, son of Matthew, was pastor from 1798 to his death in 1816. Mr. Watson was succeeded by Rev. Luther Wright in 1817, who was dismissed in 1821. Rev. Frances Wood succeeded Mr. Wright and continued pator for four years. Rev. Thomas Williams followed Mr. Wood, to be followed by Rev. Benjamin R. Allen, Rev. Chaltes Peabody and Rev. Forrest Jafferds. During Rev. Silas S. Hyde's pastorate the church was greatly remodelled and improved. Rev. Francis Wood succeeded Mr. Hyde and, after a successful pastorate of sixteen years, died greatly lamented by his people, in 1872.
