Rev. William H. Newman was the first pastor, Rev. Mr. Vinton having accepted the rectorship of St. Stephen's Church, Providence, before the church was completed. After the erection of the church at Wakefield most of the members at Tower Hill and Kingston joined the Wakefield church. Mr. Newman remained but a short time when he resigned to take charge of the church at Westerly. The church has had a number of rectors and at time been without one. In 1868 Rev. Samuel P. Kelley assumed charge and during his rectorship the church prospered. From this time forward the church has been in a very flourishing condition.
The following data were taken from manuscript furnished by Mrs. C.E. Robinson of Wakefield.
