RICHARD ARMITT, son of John Armitt, dated 8 mo. 2, 1701, from Mo. Mtg. at Leek, Staffordshire, England. The said Richard Armitt transported himself to America in 1700, and by letter asked for a certificate. he "has lived for some years from amongst us & hath followed his trade in London and has been some Voyages in Spain, &c." His father is living but his mother is dead. John Armitt, the father; John Armitt, a brother; Sarah Armitt and Mary Armitt signed the certificate. In a postscript to the certificate the father mentions "my brother Robt. Heath." At Phila., 5 mo. 25, 1701.

THOMAS JANNEY, unmarried, "late a member of this meeting having transported himself into yt province [Penna.] and by our frd. Randle Janney his Brother" desires a certificate. PAULUS KRIPNER (certificate undated and name of meeting not given)m "who sometime since went from Holland into your parts hath acquainted the meeting for sufferings that since his arrivall amongst you Some had misrepresented him as if he had carried with him the Money and books belonging to the Monthly Meeting of Amsterdam, and we being appointed by the Meeting for Suffering to lett you know the true State of the affiar do hereby acquaint you that he having putt the said Mony & books into the hands of one Anthony Noble of Amsterdam and taken a Note promising to deliver the same to the sd Meetings order wch Note he sent to the Meeting accordingly, and we by order thereof Endorst and sent the same to Peter Leenders in Holland who hath acquained us that the Books & mony has been recd. by him & two frds. more of Amsterdam for the Meetings use. And as to the life & conversation of the sd Paulus Kripner, we have heard He was first convinced of the Truth at the Cape of good Hope and afterward came to Amsterdam and had a great Contest with some who profess Truth there & yet use the ceremony of the Hatt & as this difference run very high, its not probable they would give him a Certificate.
