[Transcriber's note:-- In transcribing the dates, I have standardized them in the day - month - year format most often used in databases. Words that have been abbreviated where possible: yr for year, mo for month, wk for week, dy for day, d. for died.

I have also capitalized surnames where possible, but because women were often given family surnames as middle names, have skipped any that were questionable. However, the researcher should be aware that lack of capitalization does not necessarily preclude a name being a surname and therefore a clue to a woman's birth family. --jd]

This cemetery is on the site of the ancient Friends or Quaker Meeting-house and Burial Yard, but for some years has not been used as a place of interment. For an interesting account of the early hsitory of the location see Dally's "History of Woodbridge and Vicinity."

The yard is located on the South side of Main Street, Woodbridge, N. J., and is owned by the Methodist Episcopal Church. A number of years ago following an order to remove the remains of those buried in this cemetery, a number were removed, and reburied in the Presybterian Cemetery, at Woodbridge, or the Alpine Cemetery between Woodbridge and Perth Amboy. All however were not removed, and I have copied the inscriptions from the stones that remain over the graves of those who remains still rest here.

At the time of the building of the present Sunday School room of the church, some of the remains of those buried here were removed to other parts of the yard, those of the HARNEDs' wee placed in one plot as indicated in the following record. The record of the yard was made 6 Oct 1917. Record made by Freeman Worth Gardner, Woodbridge, N. J., 30 Oct 1917.

A cross (+) denotes that the grave is marked with a headstone or otherwise.

I have made a copy of the Record Book and supplemented it by a list of the additional stones now standing in the yard. Where letters appear with no number following, this indicates the additional stones. The cemetery, according to the record and map is divided into five sections, A. B. C. D. & E, and the record is not complete for the record book was compiled about twenty five years ago. The old church records were destroyed by fire some years ago, and the present church records begin about 1840 or thereabouts, and also contain additional notes of deceased members.

The Church and Cemetery is located on the East side of Rahway Ave., (in olden days called The Lower Road to Rahway), adjoining Trinity Lane and opposite the Presbyterian Church and Cemetery. See Dally's History of Woodbridge for account of the Church and its history. Record made by Freeman Worth Gardner, Woodbridge, N. J., 30 Oct 1917.
