  • (In the settlement of the estate of Reuben Johnson, who died in 1804, his widow, Kezia, was given the homestead, with about twenty-two acres, bounded north on land set to her thirds in her former husbands estate: west on land of Sylvanus Wood [formerly Douglass property]; south and east by town roads [Locust and Burlington Streets]. The residue of the home-stead was given to Marshall Johnson, who also received the Great Field of eight acres, one hundred and twenty eight poles, bounded west on the road leading by Nathan Pierce's [Burlington Street]; south on the Rag Rock Road: east on land of Benjamin Fowle; elsewhere on lands of Lieut. Joseph Winn and Abel Winn. [see notes under Baldwin, Bruce, Fowle and Reed, for history of this land.] To Luke Johnson was given the Tyler pasture of nine acres and twenty-five poles, bounded north, east and south on town roads [Locust, Burlington and Garden Streets] and land of John Flagg, and west on land of Benjamin Fowle. To Marshall Johnson was given the Douglass pasture of seventeen acres, twenty-four poles [present Rufus Lovering property on Cambridge Street], bounded east on the country road; noth and west on Sylvanus Wood, elsewhere on Col. Abijah Wheeler (part of late John Weston place]. To the widow was given the Wyman lot, probably at Wood Hill; to John Johnson, the Richardson lot, also at Wood Hill, containing seven acres and fifty-five poles, and the Thornton lot. To Reuben Johnson was assigned the Horn Pond lot, south of General Thompson's tannery, and also a lot at Hungry Plain. Reuben Johnson (son of Reuben and Sarah [Johnson] (Johnson), was born 1751 and died Aug. 12, 1804. He married Kezia (Wyman) Baldwin, a daughter of Zebadiah and Abigail (Pierce) Wyman. She was born April 8, 1748, married Reuel Baldwin, Oct. 4, 1769, and Reuben Johnson Aug. 5. 1777. She died Oct. 23, 1822. Their children were: (1) Abigail, born Oct. 10, 1779, married James Bruce, Aug. 1, 1815, and died April 13, 1864. (2) Kezia, born March 22, 1781, married Hanson Connor, of Malden, March 29, 1812, and died Aug. 2, 1860. (3) Reuben, born Oct. 19, 1782, died in Arlington, July 16, 1837. He marred, first, May 20, 1810, Sarah Abbott Warren, who died April 29, 1811: second, Oct. 24, 1826, Rachel Buckman, who survived him: afterwards married John C. Martain, and died in Cambridge April 10, 1873; (4) Marshall, born July 25, 1784, died in Chelsea, March 17, 1866. He married, first, April 29, 1823, Hannah Center, of Charlestown (born 1792, died Nov. 3, 1836); second, Feb. 28, 1837, her sister, Alice Center, born 1797, died March 10, 1866. (5) Luke, born Sept. 6, 1786, died June 25, 1811. (6) John, born April 28, 1788, died March 17, 1838. He married, first, Sally Kendall (daughter of Obadiah), April 22, 1813, who died Dec. 25, 1844; second, Jan. 12, 1848, Eliza Butnam, of Lowell, born Feb. 12, 1810, and died Dec. 12, 1881.
