GREENLEAF.
  • (David Greenleaf (s. of Bickford(?) born in Haverhill, Mass., April 28, 1753, died in Lancaster, N. H., March 28, 1835. David's father was born in England, lived in Haverhill, went out West, and was supposed to have been drowned. David Greenleaf, at the age of seven, removed with his mother to Haverhill, N. H., where she married Michael Aimee. David afterward removed to Lancaster, where he married, for his fourth wife, Ruth Stockwell, daughter of Emmons and Ruth (Page) Stockwell who was the first white woman in Landcaster. By his wife Ruth, who died in Lancaster, in January 1830, David Greenleaf had six children, all born in Lancaster, namely: (1) Joseph; (2) Lucinda, mar. William Parsons; (3) Seth; (4) Jane, mar. Charles Pearsons and she is now living in Bakersfield, Vt.; (5) Nella, mar. John Flower; and (6) Betsey. Joseph Greenleaf, son of David, was born Aug. 31, 1809, and is now living in Medford, Mass. He married (1) Sarah A. McKoy who was born in Lunenburg, Vt. and died in Burke, Vt. By her he had three children; Charles H.; Mary Frances, mar. T. K. Hale of Cambridge. Mass.; and William Franklin who died in infancy. Charles H. Greenleaf mar. Sarah Kimball Reed of Woburn, and their children, all born in Boston, are: (1) Mary Eliza, b. April 21, 1863; (2) William Reed, b. June 18, 1864; (3) Flora Clark, b. Feb. 14. 1867; (4) Emma Betsey, b. March 4, 1869; (5) Charles Henry, b. Dec. 2, 1872.—See also note under Pearsons.)
