Deed from Joseph WRIGHT to Christopher LAY

Know all men by these presents that I James WRIGHT of Say Brook in the county of New London and Colony of Connecticut in New England for and in Consideration of the sum of Sixty pound current money to me in hand paid by Christopher LAY of Say Brook aforesaid have given granted and by these presents do fully and freely and absolutely give grant bargain sell aliene convey and confirm unto him the said Christopher LAY his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of meadow land containing by estimation eleven acres more or less Scituate in the Township of Saybrook aforesaid lying in the west side of manuncateset River butted and bounded viz: easterly on said River Southerly on Mr. Benj. WRIGHT's, northerly on a creek called the Broad Creek and partly on my own meadow, the south easterly corner is a stake by the river standing in the divident line between said Benj. WRIGHT's meadow and the granted premises from thence it rons in said line fourteen rods and a half to a stake from thence it runs northerly 44 rods to a stake standing by a small creek about 3 rods east of where empties iyself into the broad creek from thence by said broad creek till it comes to the aforesaid river together with such highway through my land to the Country Road as shall be most convenient and accomoable for the carryin off the hay from said granted meadows as there shall be occasion.

To Have and to Hold all and singular the above granted and bargained premises with all the appurtenances thereof to him the said Christopher LAY his heirs and assigns forever as a good perfect and absolute estate of inheritance in fee simple to his and their only and sole benefit and behoof forever.

And I the Said James WRIGHT do at and before the ensealing hereof vouch the premises to be my own and am lawfully seized thereof and have in myself good right to sell and dispose of the same in manner and forme as abovesaid and do by these presents for myself my heirs executors and administrators covenant to and with the said Christopher LAY his heirs and assigns that they shall at all times forever hereafter by force and virtue of these presents have hold use occupie possess and injoy the above demised premises with the appurtenances free and clear from all manner of incumbrances whatsoever that shall any ways obstruct or make void this present deed furthermore I the said James WRIGHT do for myself my heirs executors and administrators promise and engage the above demised premises with all the appurtenances to him the said Christopher LAY his heirs and assigns against the lawfull claims and demands of all persons what soever forever hereafter to Warrant Secure and Defend.
