Deed from Joseph & Mabel WILLCOX 3d to Josiah CARTER

To all People to whom these Presents shall come: GREETING.

KNOW Ye, That we Joseph WILLCOX 3d & Mabel WILLCOX of the town of Killingworth in the County of Middlesex & State of Connecticut for the consideration of the sum of Eighty three dollars twenty cents-Rec'd to my full satisfaction of Josiah CARTER of Killingworth in the County of Middlesex & State of Connecticut-Do give grant bargain sell & confirm unto the s'd Josiah CARTER his heirs & assigns forever those certain tracts or parcels of land lying in the Township of Killingworth being the Mill District one piece containing half the shop & half of the Nursery & garden -- & also a tract of land lying the west side of the highway from the Dwelling house of Josiah CARTER-Beginning at a heap of stones by the bars at the northeast corner - thence north westerly 14 rods to a heap of stones-thence westerly 22 rods to a heap of stones thence westerly 24 rod, to a heap of stones - thence southerly 36 rods to a black oak tree with stones about it - thence Easterly 26 rods to a heap of stones - thence northeasterly 32 rods to the first mentioned corner - Containing nine acres one quarter - bounded northerly on the highway - westerly on land of Hubbel CARTER - southerly on land of George ELIOT Esq'r Easterly on land let to Marther HULL - Also a tract of land on the north end of the KELCEY farm - Beginning at a burch tree stones about it - thence Easterly 47 rods to a heap of stones - thence southwesterly 40 rods to a heap of stones - thence northwesterly 37 rods to the first mentioned corner - Bounded northerly on the highway - & southerly on the land of John DEWOLF westerly on the land of Dan KELCEY - the whole containing thirteen acres & three quarters to be the same more or less - being the land the s'd Mabel WILLCOX had let to her in the Distribution of her hon'd father's Estate-

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the above granted and bargained premises, with the appurtenances thereof, unto him the said Josiah CARTER his heirs and assigns forever, to his and their own proper use and behoof. And also, we the said Josiah & Mabel WILLCOX do four ourselves our heirs, executors and administrators, covenant with the said Josiah CARTER his heirs and assigns; that at and until the ensealing of these presents we are well seized of the premises, as a good indefeasible estate in fee simple, and have good right to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as is above written, and that the same is under the Incumbrance of the wid'w third, during her natural life-other wise is free of all Incumbrance whatsoever.

AND FURTHERMORE, we the said Joseph & Mabel WILLCOX do by these presents, bind ourselves and our heirs forever to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises, to him the said Josiah CARTER his heirs and assigns, against all claims and demands whatsoever.

IN WITNESS whereof, we have hereunto set our hand and seal this 25 day of January Anno Domini 1800-
