Deed from Joseph WHITTLESEY to Nathaniel CHAPMAN
Know all men by these presents that I Joseph WHITTLESEY of Saybrook in the County of New London and colony of Connecticut in New England for and in consideration of ye sum of Forty five pounds in currant money of said Colony of Connecticut to me in hand paid by Nath'll CHAPMAN of ye Town., County and colony aforesaid with which I acknowledge myself fully satisfied contented and paid have granted bargained sold and do by these presents fully and freely give grant bargain sell and surly make over unto the said Nath'll CHAPMAN his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract of upland and swamp in the Township of Saybrook in ye Quarter of Oyster River, containing about fifteen acres be the same more or less and is bounded Southerly on land of Capt. Sam'll DOTY, Northerly partly on land of Ebenezer BUSHNELL and partly on land Common land, Easterly on highway leading up to Potopauge, Westerly on land of Caleb CHAPMAN; the Southeast corner of said land is a heap of stones and the Northeast corner is a Wallnut tree with stones about it and the Norwest corner is a Black Oak stadle with stones about it and ye Southwest corner is a Black Oak Stadle and stones about it.
To have and to hold all and singular the above granted and bargained premises to him the said Nath'll CHAPMAN his heirs and assigns forever; And furthermore I the said Joseph WHITTLESEY Do covenant and ingage to and with the said Nath'll CHAPMAN and his heirs that from henceforth and forever hereafter it shall be lawful for him and them to enter upon use occupie and injoy the same without any molestation or ejectment from any person whatsoever an that at the ensealing hereof I am the true and sole owner of the premises and have good right and lawful authority to convey the same as above said; and furthermore I the said Joseph WHITTLESEY for myself my heirs executors and administrators &c., do covenant and ingage to Warrant and Defend the above demised premises to him the said Nath'll CHAPMAN his heirs and assigns forever against all ye lawful claims and demands of any person or persons forever.
In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 18th day of September A.d. 1741
