To all People to whom these Presents shall come,--GREETING.

KNOW YE, That I Jennett Mehetabel TOWNER of Killingworth County of Middlesex & State of Connecticut for the consideration of one hundred and sixty Dollars & sixty two cents received to my full satisfaction of George CARTER of Killingworth in the County of Middlesex & County aforesaid Do give, grant, bargain, sell and confirm unto the said George CARTER his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land in the Township of Killingworth at a place called the BARBER lot in the planting fields near the Dam being all my right of land at said place which descended to me by himself my Grandfather Samuel CRANE and my mother Jane ELLIOTT and from my uncle Jared CRANE according to the dividend made ? one & my sister Louisa ELLIOTT on the fifth day of July AD 1816 And also including seventy four rods of land on the eastern side of said lot? Which is in exchange for the same quantity of land at another place deeded to Louisa ELLIOTT from George & Jerusha CARTER the whole tract being in one piece and bounded as following beginning at the northeast corner at a stake by Noah LANE's land thence running northerly Jerusha CARTER's land and westwardly three rods eighteen links to the Hammock river, thence easterly by s'd River seven rods & twenty links to a stake, thence about two rods west of the Cove thence easterly partly by land of John R?? and by land of Noah LANE three acres and thirty five rods of land be the same more or less Bounded easterly Jerusha CARTER's land westerly by Hammock river, westerly by lands of Louisa ELLIOTT Northerly by land of John ?? and Noah LANE.

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the above granted and bargained premises, with the appurtenances thereof unto him the said George CARTER his heirs and assigns forever, to his and their own proper use and behoof. And who, I the said Jeannett Mehetabel TOWNER do for myself and my heirs, executors and administrators, covenant with the said George CARTER his heir heirs and assigns that at and until the ensealing these presents I am well seized of the premises as a good indefeasible estate in fee simple, and have good right to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as is above written, and that the same is free of all incumbrances whatsoever.

AND FURTHERMORE, I the said Jeannett Mehetabel TOWNER do by these presents bind myself and my heirs forever, to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises, to him the said George CARTER his heirs and assigns, against all claims and demands whatsoever.

IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 14th day of July Anno Domini One thousand eight hundred and seventeen
