Deed from John STANNARD to Jared SPENCER

To all People to whom these presents shall come Greeting &c. Know ye that I John STANNARD Jun'r of Say Brook in ye County of New London & Colony of Connecticut in New England Weaver for & in Consideration of six pounds Currant money of this Colony to me in hand before the Insealing hereof well & truly paid by Jared SPENCER of Say Brook in ye county aforesaid the Receipt whereof I do acknowledge & myselfe therewith fully satisfied and contented and thereof & of every part and parcel thereof do exonerate acquit & Discharge ye said Jared SPENCER his heirs executors & administrators forever by these presents have given granted bargained sold alienated conveyed & confirmed and by these presents do freely fully and absolutely give grant sell alienate convey & Confirm unto him ye said JARED SPENCER his heirs & assigns forever a Certain parcell or tract of land cituate lying in Say Brook in ye County of aboves'd neer ye head of Stoney Brook which is a part of ye lot that was Laid out to Joseph STANNARD of Say Brook Dec'd and is called third Division Land bounded west and upon ye Common East upon land of Sam'll CHAPMAN & South upon land of said STANNARd running from ye uper end of s'd Lott down Southerly to a swamp neer ye middle of s'd lot to have & to hold ye said granted & bargained premises with all the appurtainances privileges & Commodities to ye same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him ye said Jared SPENCER his heirs and assigns forever to his and their only proper use benefitt forever to his and their only proper us and benefit forever and I ye s'd John STANNARD for me my heirs executors & administrators Do Covenant promise & grant to and with ye said Jared SPENCER his heirs and assigns that before ye ensealing hereof I am ye true sole & lawfull owner of ye above bargained premises and am lawfully seized and possessed of ye same in my own Right as a good perfect and absolute Estate of Inheritance in fee simple & have in myself good right full power & lawfull authority to grant bargain sell convey & confirm said bargained premises in manner as aboves'd & that & that said Jared SPENCER his heirs and assigns shall & may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter by force & virtue of these presents lawfully peaceably & quietly have hold use occupie possess & Injoy the said Demised & bargained premises with the appurtainances free & clear & freely & clearly acquitted exonerated & discharged of an from all and manner of former & other gifts grants sales mortgages wills Intails and all Incumbrances whatsoever furthermore I ye said John STANNARD for me my heirs executors and Administrators Do covenant & Ingage the above Demised premises to him ye s'd Jared SPENCER his heirs & assigns against the lawfull claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever forever hereafter to Warrant Secure & Defend.

In Witneess whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 8th day of August in the Third year of ye Reign of our Sovereign Lord George King of Great Brittain Anno Domini 1716, memorandum it is understood that ye bounds is to end at the stream in ye aboves'd swamp
