Deed from William STANNARD to Christopher LAY
To all People to whom these Presents shall come Greeting: Know ye that I William STANNARD of Say-Brook in the County of New London & Colony of Connecticut in New England Joyner for the Consideration of Seventy five Pounds Currant money Received to my full satisfaction of Christopher Lay of ye County & Colony aforesaid yeoman, Do give grant bargain sell & Confirm unto the said Christopher LAY his heirs & assigns forever a Certain tract or parcel of land situate in s'd Say Brook in Oyster River Quarter on Treakle Hill. Begining at an ash stubb which is ye South west Corner of a tract of land belonging to Lemuel STANNARD Thence Westerly by ye Country Road to a White Oake tree marked & stones laid about it thence Northerly to a Wallnut Staddle marked by a large heap of stones thence Easterly to a Red Oake tree blown up by the roots which is ye Southeast of ye land belonging to Robert LAY which he bought of John CHAPMAN, Thence Southerly to ye place of begining Containing about fourteen acres & a half be it more or less Bounded South on the Country Road West upon land left for a highway North upon Robert LAY's land East land belonging to Lemuell STANNARD.
To Have & to Hold the above granted & bargained Premises with ye appurtenances unto him ye s'd Christopher LAY his heirs & assigns forever to his and their own proper use & Behoof & also I the said William STANNARD Do for myself my heirs &c Covenant with the said Christopher LAY his heirs & assigns that at and untill the ensealing of these presents I am seized of ye Premises as a good Indefeasible Estate in fee simple & have good Right to Bargain & sell the same in manner and forme as is above Written & that the same is free of all Incumbrances whatsoever & furthermore I the said William STANNARD Do by these Presents Bind myself my heirs forever to Warrant and Defend the above granted & bargained Premises to him the said Christopher LAY his heirs & assigns against all claims and demands whatsoever,
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the fifteenth Day of February in the Sixth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second of Great Brittain &c King Annoque Domini 1732/3,
