Deed from Jabez SPENCER to Stephen POST

Know all men by these presents that I Jabez SPENCER of Saybrook in ye County of New London and Colony of Connecticut in New England for and in consideration of the sum of sixteen pounds money to me in hand paid before the ensealing hereof by Stephen POST of Saybrook aforesaid the Receipt thereof I acknowledge and myself therewith fully satisfied contented and paid Have given granted sold alienated conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do absolutely grant & confirm unto him the said Stephen POST his heirs & assigns for ever a certain tract of land situated in said Saybrook West Society neer the three cornerd meadow containing four acres bounded as followeth viz: The first Corner is a white oak stadle runs Westerly to a Rock with stones upon it, then Southerly to ye first mentioned bound mark Bounded East upon the highway South upon Stephen POST's Land North upon my own land.

To Have and to Hold the said granted and bargained premises with ye appurtenances & Commodities to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said Stephen POST his heirs and assigns forever to his and their own proper use and behoof forever. And I the said Jabez SPENCER for myself my heirs executors and administrators Do Covenant and Ingage the above Demised premises to him the said Stephen POST his heirs and assigns that before the ensealing hereof I am the sole owner of the above Demised premises and am lawfully seized and possessed of ye same as my own proper estate as a good perfect estate of inheritance in fee simple. Furthermore I the said Jabez SPENCER for myself my heirs executors and administrators Do Covenant and engage ye above Demised premises to him the said Stephen POST his heirs and assigns against the lawfull claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever forever hereafter to Warrant Secure and Defend.

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifty day of July in the year 1742
