Deed from Jared SPENCER to Capt. Samuel CHAPMAN

Know all men by these presents that I, Jared SPENCER of Say-Brook in ye County of New London & Colony of Connecticut in New England (Husbandman) for & in consideration of a certain tract or parcell of land by a deed of exchange made over to me my heirs and assigns which Deed Bared Date with these presents & is under ye hand & seal of Capt. Sam'll CHAPMAN of s'd Say-Brook & well executed according to law & by him Delivered to me & by me in hand received Have given granted bargained sold aliened Exchanged conveyed & confirmed by these present Do freely fully & absolutely give grant bargain sell exchange aliene convey & confirm unto him ye s'd Sam'll CHAPMAN his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcell of land situate lying & being in Oyster River Quarter in ye Township of Say-Brook aforesaid neer the head of stonney brook containing by estimation Eleven acres nore or less bounded North Upon s'd CHAPMAN's Land South upon Robt. LAY Jun'r his land East upon Belonging to the heirs of Sam'll STANNARD Dec'd.

To Have & to hold all & singular the above granted & bargained premises with the appurtainances priviledges & commodities thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining to him the said Capt. Sam'll CHAPMAN his heirs & assigns forever to his and their only proper use Benefit & Behoof forever free & clear & freely & clearly acquitted Exonerated & Discharged of from all & all manner of former or other gifts grants bargains Sales leases mortgages wills Intails Joynters Dowries Judgments Executions Incumbiences & Extents jointers Dowries to & that ye s'd CHAPMAN his heirs & assigns shall & may at all times forever hereafter by force & virtue of these presents have hold use Occupie possess & Injoy without the lett trouble or molestation of any person or persons whatsoever further more I ye said Jared SPENCER for me my heirs executors and administrators Do promise & Ingage the above demised & bargained Premises to him the said Capt. Sam'llCHAPMAN his heirs & assigns against the lawfull Claims & Demands of any person or persons whatsoever forever hereafter to Warrant Secure & Defend
