Deed from Oyster River Proprietors to Capt. Jared SPENCER

Know all men by these presents that we Sam'll CHAPMAN Joshua BUSHNELL and Abraham CHALKER all of Saybrook in the County of New London and Colony of Connecticut in New England having been chosen appointed and empowered by the Proprietors of Oyster River Quarter in said Say Brook to sell and dispose of a piece of land in said Quarter that has heretofore been reserved for a highway for and in consideration of eight pounds in money to us in hand paid by Capt. Jared SPENCER of said SayBrook have granted and sold and by these presents in behalf of said Proprietors Do give grant sell and confirm unto ye Capt. Jared SPENCER his heirs and assigns two acres of land lying inclosed with his farme and is bounded easterly five rods by a highway and southerly about four rods on James POST's lands and every other way else on said SPENCER's land.

To have and to hold the above granted and bargained premises with the appurtenances to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Jared SPENCER his heirs and assigns forever a s a good indefeasible estate of inheritance in Fee Simple and we the said Sam'll CHAPMAN Joshua BUSHNELL and Abraham CHALKER Do for ourselves and in behalf of the inhabitance the Proprietors aforesaid Covenant and grant that the said Jared SPENCER his heirs and assigns shall and may be force and virtue of these presents enter upon have hold use posses and quietly injoy the above granted premises without any lett trouble eviction ejection molestation or incumbrances of title whatsoever from said Proprietors their heirs successors or assigns or from any other person whatsoever,

In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 27th day of Aprill in the 9th year of his Majesties Reign A.D. 1736.
