Deed from Hannah POST to Sergt. Robert LAY
Know all Men by these Presents That I Hannah POST of Say-Brook in New London County & in ye Colony of Connecticut In New England for & In Consideration of the sum of one hundred and thirty pounds In Bills of Credit of this Colony of the Old Tennor to me In hand Paid by Sergt. Robt. LAY of sd. Say-Brook the Rec't whereof I do hereby acknowledge myself fully satisfied & Paid have Given Granted Bargained Sold & Do by these presents freely & Absolutely Give Grant Bargain sell convey & Confirm unto him ye sd. Robt. LAY & his heirs forever one Certain Track of Upland In Sd. Saybrook in ye West Society containing Nine acres & fourty Rods Bounded & described as follows viz:--Northerly on land formerly belonging to Jemima POST But now In ye possession & occupancy of sd. Robt. LAY & Westerly on land belonging to Pabody GRENELL Southerly on ye Beach & Easterly on land belonging to AphR'm KELSEY together with a piece of land formerly left for a highway two rods wide lying Between sd. LAY's Land & land of Ephr'm KELSEY Containing one hundred and twenty Rods of Land.
To Have and To Hold all & Singular the above Granted & Bargained premises with ye appurtenances to him the said Robert LAY his heirs & assigns forever as a Good estate of Inheritance in ffee simple & I the said Hannah POST Do hereby Ingage that at the ensealing hereof I am the Sole owner of ye Premises & have In myself Good Right to Convey ye same as abovewritten & ffurthermore I the sd Hannah POST Do for myself my heirs executors &c., promise & Ingage to Warrant & Defend the above Granted Premises to him the said Robt. LAY & his heirs forever against all ye Claims & Demands of any person or persons whatsoever.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 30th, Day of November and In ye 17th year of his Majesties Reign A.D. 1743.
