Deed from Samuell PLATTS to Joseph CARTER

To all Christian People to whom these presents shall come, Greeting; Know ye that I Samuel PLATTS of Say-Brook in ye County of New London and Colony of Connecticut in New England yeoman for and in consideration of ten pounds Currant Money to me in hand paid before the ensealing of these presents by Joseph CARTER of Killingworth in the County and Colony aforesaid the Receipt whereof I do Hereby acknowledge Have given granted bargained sold alienated conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do freely and absolutely give grant bargain sell aliene convey and confirm unto him ye said Joseph CARTER his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract of land scituated in the Township of Saybrook aforesaid in Oyster River Quarter lying East or North east from Cranes meadow beginning at a Black oak tree which the South east corner of Joseph CARTER's land, thence running nine rods to a black tree marked and stones about it, thence running more Easterly twelve rods to a Wallnut tree marked stones about it, thence Northerly Seventy Rods to a black Oak tree marked and stones about it, thence Westerly four rods to a White Oak tree which is the Northeast Corner of said CARTER;s own land, thence running Southerly Seventy rods to the first mentioned Corner containing five acres as it lyes bounded Westerly by land of said Joseph CARTER East, North and South by the Common land.

To Have and To Hold the said five acres of land herein granted with all ye appurtenances priviledges and Commodities to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said Joseph CARTER his heirs and assigns forever to his and their only proper use benefit and Behoof forever to his and their only proper use benefit and Behoof forever free and clear and freely and Clearly acquitted exonerated and Discharged of an from all manner of other or former gifts grants bargains sales or other Incumbrances in ye law whatsoever; and I the said Samuel PLATTS for myself my heirs executors and administrators Do Covenant promise and grant to and with the said Joseph CARTER his heirs and assigns that before the Ensealing hereof I am the true sole and lawfull owner of the above bargained premises and have in myself good right full power and lawfull authority to bargain and sell the same in manner abovesaid and do hereby Bind and oblige myself my heirs executors and administrators to Warrant and Defend the said granted and bargained premises forever to him the said Joseph CARTER his heirs and assigns against the lawfull claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever.

In Witness whereof I the said Sam'll PLATTS have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventh day of July A.D. 1735 and in the Eighth year of ye reign of our sovereign Lord George 2nd King of Great Brittain &c.
