Deed from Theophilus MORGAN to HUBBEL CARTER

To all People to whom these Presents shall come:--GREETING.

KNOW Ye, That I Theophilus MORGAN of Killingworth in the County of Middlesex & State of Connecticut

for the consideration of Seventy Dollars

Received to my full satisfaction of Hubbel CARTER of the same Town & County --

Do give, grant, bargain, fell, and confirm unto the said Hubbel CARTER his Heirs & assigns forever one certain trace of Salt Meadow lying & being in the Township of Killingworth known by the Name of HULL's Creek (being the first piece) Bounded Westerly by Hammonaset River southeasterly by Creek Easterly by Meadow of Moses GRISWOLD being all the meadow at the afores'd plan distributed to by self & my Brother George jointly in His distribution of my Hon'd fathers Estate containing by estimation one acre & a quarter be the same more or less--, His always to be understood / any thing to the contrary notwithstanding that my afores'd Brother George his heirs & assigns is to have the same privilege of Teshery? at the afores'd place as myself my heirs or assigns. The other piece lying & being in the afores'd Township known by the name of Allen's Point being bounded (viz) Beginning at the northeast corner by upland running thence southerly 16 rods to a stake in the ditch thence Westerly by a ditch 4 Rods & 5 links thence Northerly 10 Rods 19 links to a stake in the Meadow thence North westerly 7 Rods 18 links to a stake by the upland thence Easterly 8 Rods 5 links to the first mentioned bounds Bounded Northerly by upland of Jonah RUTTY Easterly by Meadow of Mills MORGAN southerly by meadow of Ezra KELSEY Westerly partly by meadow of Jedidiah BUEL David BUEL Hubbel CARTER & Abner HULL (THIEL) containing one half acre be the same more or less--

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the above granted and bargained premises, with the appurtenances thereof, unto him the said Hubbel CARTER his heirs and assigns forever, to his and their own proper use and behoof. And also, I the said Theophilus MORGAN do for my self and my heirs, executors and administrators, covenant with the said Hubbel CARTER his heirs and assigns; that all and until the ensealing these presents I am well seized of the premises as a good indefeasible estate in fee simple, and have good to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as is above written, and that the same is free of all incumbrances whatsoever.

AND FURTHERMORE, I the said Theophilus MORGAN

Do by these presents, bind my self and my heirs forever to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises, to him the said Hubbel CARTER his heirs and assigns, against all claims and demands whatsoever.

IN WITNESS whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 22 day of Dec'r Anno Domini 1801
