Deed from Thomas MOREHOUSE to Capt. Jared SPENCER

Know all men by these Presents that I Thomas MOREHOUSE of SayBrok in the county of New London and Colony of Connecticut in New England for and in consideration of the sum of nine pounds money to me in hand well and truly paid by capt. Jared SPENCER of SayBrook aforesaid have given and granted and by these presents do absolutely give grant bargain sell aliene convey and confirm unto him the said Jared SPENCER his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract of land lying and being in the Township of Saybrook aforesaid containing about two acres butted and bounded viz; Southerly on a highway or common land, Easterly on highway, westerly on land laid out to Caleb SPENCER, and Northerly on land of John INGHAM.

To have and to hold all and singular the above granted and bargained premises with all the appurtenances privileges and Commodities to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him ye said Jared SPENCER his heirs and assigns forever to his and their only proper use and benefit and behoof forever and I the said Thomas MOREHOUSE for myself my heirs executors and administrators do Covenant promise and grant to and with the said Jared SPENCER his heirs and assigns that before & at the ensealing hereof I am the sole owner of the above bargained premises and have in myself power and lawfull right to sell and dispose of the same in manner and form as abovesaid and that the said SPENCER his heirs and assigns shall and may at all times forever hereafter have hold use occupy posses and enjoy the above granted and bargained premises with all the appurtenances thereof free and clear from all manner of incumbrances whatsoever that shall in any ways obstruct or make void this deed.

Furthermore I the said Thomas MOREHOUSE do for myself my heirs executors and administrators promise and engage the above demised premises to him the said Jared SPENCER his heirs and assigns against the lawfull claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever forever hereafter to Warrant and Defend.

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 14th day of June in the ninth year
