Deed from Benjamin MERRILLS to James WRIGHT

Know all men by these presents that I Benjamin MERRILLS of Killingworth in ye County of New London and Colony of Connecticut in New England for and in consideration of ye sum of Two Hundred and ninety seven pounds curant money to me in hand paid before ye ensealing here of by James WRIGHT of Say-Brook in the County aforesaid ye Receipt whereof I hereby acknowledge have given granted remised released quit-claimed and confirmed unto him the said James WRIGHT his heirs and assins forever al ye right title interest claim and demand that I have had now have or which my heirs executors or Administrators in time to come may or might or in anywise ought to have or claim in or to a certain tract of land scituate in ye Township of Saybrook aforesaid excepting a small part thereof which lyes in ye Township of Killngworth aforesaid the abovesaid land lying on Chestnut Hill and High Hill and in Oyster River Quartercall but that part which lyes in the Township of Killingworth; said land begining at a stake and heap of stones thence Easterly ten rods to a stake and heap of stones stil Easterly Eighty six rods to a white Oak tree marked stones cast about it thence Southerly Sixty Four rods to a stake and heap of stones thence Easterly Eighty rods to a stump and heap of stones thence Northerly Ninety six rods to a walnut tree marked stones cast about it thence Westerly Eighty four rods to a Wallnut staddle marked stones cast about thence Southerly Sixty rods to ye first mentioned corner containing eighty two acres, bounded Southerly in part by Samuel PLATTS land and in part by the Common, Easterly in part by James POST's land and in part by Robert LAY's land, Northerly by the said WRIGHT's land and Westerly in part on land belonging to Alexander STUART and in part by the said PLATTS land.

To have and to hold the said released premises with all the appurtenances thereof free and clear from me ye said Benj. MERRILLS my heirs executors and administrators so that neither I ye said Benj. MERRILL my heirs executors nor administrators nor any other person or persons for me or them or in mine or theirs names right or sted any part thereof but myself and every of us be utterly excluded nd forever debarred by these presents.

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 27th day of April 1738.
