Deed from Benjamin MERRILLS to James WRIGHT
To all People to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know ye that I Benjamin MERRILLS of Killingworth in ye County of New London and Colony of Connecticut in New England for and in consideration of ye full and just sum of twenty five pounds in lawfull money to me in hand well and truly paid by James WRIGHT of Saybrook in ye County and Colony aforesaid ye Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and myself therewith fully satisfied contented and paid and thereof do acquit and forever discharge ye said James WRIGHT him his heirs executors and Administrators for in consideration whereof I the said Benjamin MERRILLS Have and by these presents do give grant sell and forever make sure unto him ye said James WRIGHT to him his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land scituate lying and being in Say-Brook in ye aforesaid County of New London which land was formerly Sam'll CHALKER's dec'd containing five acres and to be allowed as it lyeth butted and bounded Easterly on said MERRILLS own land Southerly and Westerly on Highway and Northerly on land belonging to the CHALKERS.
To Have and to Hold ye said five acres of land Together with all and singular the priviledge and appurtenances thereto belonging or in anywise appertaining to him ye said James WRIGHT to him his heirs and assigns forever free and Clear of all manner of Incumbrances whatsoever moreover I the said Benj. MERRILLS do hereby bind myself my heirs executors and Administrators to Warrant and Defend the above bargained premises unto him the said James WRIGHT to him his heirs and assigns forever against any manner of lawful claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 15th day of August A.D. One thousand seven hundred and thirty four.
