To all Christian People to whom these presents shall come I John MENTON of Killingworth in the Coloney of Connecticut & County of New London in New England Send Greeting Know Ye that I ye s'd John MENTER for and in Consideration of the full and sufficient sum of twelve pounds to me in hand receive dof Ebenezer HURD of the Toune county & Coloney afores'd, the receipt whereof I doe hereby acknowledge & my self therewith fully Satisfied and contented and payed and every part thereof doe Aquit & discharge the s'd Ebenezer HURD his heirs Executors and Administrators for Ever, and by these presents doe fully, freely & absolutely give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and Confirm unto him the s'd Ebenezer HURD his heirs and assigns forever, a certain parcell or tract of Upland, Scituate lying & being above the Mill pond by the Indian river in the Township of Killingworth afore s'd Forty four rods in length, in Breadth by s'd River twenty Nine rods & a half Containing Eight Acres more or less, Bounded Northeasterly by the Brooke and the Land of Lef't Samuell BUELL Southeasterly by the river, Northeasterly by the highway and Southeasterly by the Common. To have and to Hold the above granted and bargained Land to him the s'd Ebenezer HURD his heirs and assigns forever to his and their own proper use benefit and behoof forever, and I the s'd John MENTER for my Self, my heirs Executors & Administrators doe Covenant Grant & promise to and with the s'd Ebenezer HURD his heirs and assigns that before the ensealing of these presents I am the true sole and Lawfull owner of the above bargained premises & have in myself good right full power and Lawfull Authority to bargain and sell the same in Manner as above s'd & that the s'd Ebenezer HURD his heirs & assigns Shall and may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter by force & virtue of these presents Lawfully peaceably & quietly Have Hold Use occupie possess & Injoy the above bargained and granted premises with the appurtenances free and clear freely & clearly aquited Exonerated & discharged of an from all manner of other and former gifts grants morgages Wills Joynters Entails Dowyers Incumbrances in the Law Whatsoever Furthermore I the s'd John MENTER for myself my heirs Executors & Administrators doe Covenant and Engage the above bargained premises to him the s'd Ebenezer HURD his heirs and assigns to Warrant Secur & Defend in witness whereof I the s'd John MENTER have hereunto set my hand and Seale this fiveteenth day of December Anoqodomini Seventeen hundred and fourteen and in the first year of the Regin of our Soverain Lord George King of Great Brittain &c
