Deed from William KELSEY to John CARTER

To all Christian people to whom these presents shall come Greeting: Know ye that I William KELSEY of SayBrook in the County of New London & Colony of Connecticut in New England for a valuable Consideration to me in hand paid before ye ensealing hereof by John CARTER of Killingworth in ye County aforesaid ye Rec't whereof I do hereby acknowledge to full satisfaction Have given granted Bargained Sold aliened conveyed & by these presents Do freely fully & absolutely give grant Bargain Sell Aliene Convey & Confirm unto him ye said John CARTER his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate in SayBrook aforesaid in Oyster River Quarter lying at the North end of ye Hill Called High Hill & at ye North end of land formerly laid out to Mr. James WRIGHT late of SayBrook Dec'd & is in length Northerly & Southerly sixty rods and at each end Tirty two Rods so it is bounded on ye East & West side upon Common land Sixty Rods & at Each end that is on ye North End & South end thirty two Rods on land not laid out ye South East Corner is a white Oake Tree ye Northwest Corner is a Black Oake Tree ye Northeast and Southwest are Walnut Trees all which Trees are marked with TC & stones laid at ye Rods of them.

To Have & To Hold ye s'd granted & bargained premises with all ye appurtenances priviledges & Commodities to ye same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him ye s'd John CARTER his heirs and assigns forever to his & their own proper use benefit & behoof forever & I ye s'd William KELSEY for myself my heirs Executors & administrators Do Covenant Promise & Grant to and with ye s'd John CARTER his heirs & assigns that before the ensealing hereof I am ye true sole & lawfull owner of aboves'd Bargained premises & have in myself good Right full Power lawfull authority to bargain & sell ye same in manner as above s'd and that ye said John CARTER his heirs & assigns shall & may from time to time & at all times forever hereafter by force and vertue of these presents lawfully Peaceably & Quietly have hold use occupie possess & Enjoy ye s'd demised premises free & clear freely & clearly acquitted exonerated & Discharged of & from all & all manner of forever or other gifts grants bargains sales or Incumbrances in ye law whatsoever moreover I ye s'd William KELSEY for myself my heirs Executors & administrators Do promise & Engage the above granted premises to him ye s'd John CARTER his heirs & assigns against ye lawfull claims or Demands of any person or persons whomsoever forever hereafter to Warrant Secure & Defend,
