To all Christian People to whome these Presents Come Greeting
Know ye that I Josiah KELCEY of Killingworth in ye County of New London and Coloney of Conecticut In New England for a Veluable Consideration to me in Hand Paid Before ye Ensealing of these Presents by Benjamin CARTER ye Receipt here of I do Hereby Acknowledge have Given Granted Bargained Sold Alienated Conveyed and Confirmed and by these Presents do freely and absolutely Convey and Confirm unto Benj'n CARTER his Heirs and assigns forever one Certain Piece of Land Situate in Killingworth afore s'd being a part of my Land adjoining on Saybrook Begining at a Red oak tree runing Southeasterly Seventeen rods ½ to a Heep of Stones thence westerly 3 rods in ye Line Between ye Said Benj'n CARTER & ye S'd Josiah KELCEY to heep of Stones thence Southwesterly to ye first mentioned Corner thence from ye first Mentioned Red oak tree North easterly Fifty Four rods & ½ to a Heep of Stones In Saybrook Line thence North in S'd Line Nine Rods to a Heep of Stones thence Southwesterly fifty four rods & ½ to ye first mentioned Corner Containing one acre and a Half and twenty Eight rods Bounded Southerly on S'd KELCEY's Land westerly on S'd CARTER's Land and Northerly on S'd CARTER's Land and Easterly on ye Line Between Killingworth and Saybrook To have and to Hold ye Said Granted and Bargained Land & all ye Priviledges and Commodities to ye Same Belonging or in any wise Appertaining to him ye Said Benj'n CARTER his Heirs and Assigns for ever to his and their only proper Use Benefit and Behoof Forever and I ye s'd Josiah KELCEY for my Self my Executors & Administrators do Covenant promise and Covenant to and with ye S'd Benj'n CARTER his Heirs and Assigns that before and until ye Ensealing Here of I am ye true and Lawfull Sole oner of ye above Bargained premises and have in my Self good Right full power and Lawfull Authority to Bargain and Sell ye Same in manner as above Said and that ye S'd Benjamin CARTER his Heirs and Assigns Shall and may at all time forever Hereafter by force and Vertue of ye Presents Lawfuly Peaceably & Quietly possess and Injoy ye S'd demised Premises freely and Clearly discharged of and from all maner of former or other Gifts Grants Bargains Sails Incumbrances in ye Law whatsoever Moreover I ye S'd Josiah KELCEY for my Self my Heirs Executors and Administrators do Covenant and Engage the above demised Premises to him ye S'd Benj'n CARTER his Heirs and assigns forever in witness where of I ye S'd Josiah KELCEY Have Hereunto Set my Hand and Seal this 20: day of November AD 1751:
