To all People to whom these Presents shall come:--GREETING.

KNOW Ye, That we Martin GRISWOLD & Jehiel GRISWOLD both of Killingworth in the County of Middlesex and State of Connecticut Executors on the last will & Testament of our Hon'd Father Josiah GRISWOLD late of s'd Killingworth Dec'd

for the consideration of forty five Dollars

Received to my full satisfaction of Hubbel CARTER 2'd of the same Town & County

Do give, grant, bargain, sell, and confirm unto the said Hubbel CARTER 2'd his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract of land lying in said Killingworth near the Brick yard so called and is bounded as follows-Beginning at the North west corner by the highway that goeth to Mill plain Running thence Easterly by his own land 33 rods to a Rock thence Northerly by his own land 25 rods to a heap of stones thence easterly 37 rods to a Chestnut tree thence southerly 23 rods and half to a heap of stones by Nathan KELSEY's land thence westerly by s'd KELSEY's land 82 rods to the highway thence Northerly by said highway 29 rods & ¾ to the first mentioned corner Containing by estimation 13 acres be the same more or less

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the above granted and bargained premises, with the appurtenances thereof, unto him the said Hubbel CARTER 2'd his heirs and assigns forever, to his and their own proper use and behoof. And also, we the said Martin & Jehiel GRISWOLD do for our selves and our heirs, executors and administrators, covenant with the said Hubbel CARTER 2'd his heirs and assigns; that all and until the ensealing these presents we are well seized of the premises as a good indefeasible estate in fee simple, and have good to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as is above written, and that the same is free of all incumbrances whatsoever.

AND FURTHERMORE, we the said Martin & Jehiel GRISWOLD

Do by these presents, bind our selves and our heirs forever to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises, to him the said Hubbel CARTER 2'd his heirs and assigns, against all claims and demands whatsoever.

IN WITNESS whereof, we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 8th day of April Anno Domini 1803
