Know Ye, that I Cornelius Higgins of Haddam in Middlesex County
for the consideration of fifty four dollars received to my full satisfaction of
Horace Arnold of sd Haddam
            
do give, grant, bargain, sell, & confirm unto the said Horace Arnold a
certain piece of Land the north part of Saybrook bounded Northerly on land of
Heman Tyler Easterly & Southerly on my own land - Westerly on land of
Benjamin Ristinel & land of Levi Rutty containing six acres be the same
more or less - The North East corner is a heap of stones in the line of sd
Tyler's land & is about twenty five rods and a half from the Northwest corner -
the South east corner is a heap of stone in the fence about thirty eight rods
from the North east corner - the south line is to run as the fence runs from
the last mentioned heap of stone to the west side of the lot.
            
To have and to hold the above granted and bargained premises, with
the appurtenances thereof unto him the said Horace Arnold, his heirs and
assigns for ever, to his and their own proper use and behoof. And also, I the
said Cornelius Higgins do for myself and my heirs, executors, and
administrators, covenant with the said Horace Arnold his heirs and assigns;
that at and until the ensealing these Presents I am well-seized of the
premises as a good indefeasible estate in fee simple, and have good right to
bargain and sell the same in manner and form as is above written, and that
the same is free of all incumbrances whatsoever.
            
And furthermore, I the said Cornelius Higgins do by these Presents
bind myself and my heirs for ever, to Warrant and Defend the above granted
and bargained premises, to him the said Horace Arnold his heirs and
assigns, against all claims and demands whatsoever.
            
In Witness Whereof; I have hereunto set our my hand and seal this
11th day of December Anno Domni one thousand eight hundred and twenty
seven.
