William Ely to Samuel & Horace Arnold, 27 April 1829

      To all People to whom these Presents shall come:-- Greeting.

      Know Ye, That I William Ely of Haddam in Middlesex County for the consideration of forty four dollars and forty five cents received to my full satisfaction of Samuel Arnold & Horace Arnold of sd Haddam Do give, grant, bargain, sell, and confirm unto the said Samuel Arnold & Horace Arnold two undivided third parts of a certain piece of land in sd Haddam at or near long hill so called in common with myself being part of the lot formerly owned by James Arnold dec'd bounded Easterly by our Quarry lot Southerly by land this day convey to Thomas Shailer John Shailer & Davis Shailer Westerly by my own land - Northerly by land this day convey to John Ventres. The East line adjoining the Quarry with its opposite side being nine rods fifteen feet & a half & the North line with its side being five rods ten feet & a half - the last two mentioned lines to run in the same direction as the corresponding lines of the Quarry lot belonging to myself and the said Samuel & Horace Arnold.

      To have and to hold the above granted and bargained premises, with the appurtenances thereof unto them the said Samuel & Horace Arnold in equal proportions their heirs and assigns for ever, to them and their own proper use and behoof. And also, I the said William Ely do for myself and my heirs, executors, and administrators, covenant with the said Samuel & Horace Arnold their heirs and assigns; that at until the ensealing these Presents I am well-seized of the premises as a good indefeasible estate in fee-simple, and have good right to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as is above written, and that the same is free of all incumbrances whatsoever.

      And furthermore, I the said William Ely do by these Presents bind myself and my heirs for ever, to Warrant and Defend the above granted and bargained premises, to them the said grantees their heirs and assigns, against all claims and demands whatsoever.

      IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 27th day of April Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine.
