John ARNOLD, Grantor, to Horace ARNOLD, Grantee, 5 Mar 1818

          To all People to whom these Presents shall come:-- Greeting. Know Ye, That I John Arnold of Haddam in Middlesex County, for consideration of five hundred & fifty dollars received to my full satisfaction of Horace Arnold of Haddam Do give, grant, bargain, sell and confirm unto the said Horace Arnold a certain piece of land in sd Haddam bounded as follows viz. beginning at the North East corner of Obediah Dickinson's land thence running southwesterly by the highway about 14 rods to Augustus Lewis's land thence Southerly by sd. Lewis's land about 20 rods to Jonathan Clark's land thence Easterly by my own land about 20 rods to the South East corner of Obediah Dickinson's land thence by sd. Obediah Dickinson's land Northerly to the first mentioned bound containing about 4 acres be it more of less with a house barn &c standing thereon except one one half of sd house.

          To have and to hold the above granted and bargained premises with the appurtenances thereof unto him the said Horace Arnold, his heirs and assigns forever, to his and their own proper use and behoof. And also I the said John Arnold do for myself and my heirs, executors and administrators, covenant with the said Horace Arnold his heirs and assigns; that at and until the ensealing these presents I am well-seized of the premises as a good indefeasible estate in fee-simple, and have good right to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as is above written, and that the same is free of all incumbrances whatsoever except as above mentioned and the privilege of passing & repassing belonging to David Arnold.

          And furthermore, I the said John Arnold do by these presents bind myself and my heirs forever, to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises to him the said Horace Arnold, his heirs and assigns, against all claims and demands whatsoever.

          In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 5th day of March Anno Domini One thousand eight hundred and eighteen.
