        Know all Men by these Presents,

        That I John Arnold of Lee in the County of Berkshire & State of Massachusetts for divers good causes and considerations thereunto moving, especially for the sum of one hundred dollars received to my full satisfaction of Horace Arnold of Haddam in Middlesex County have remised, released and for ever Quit-Claimed, and do by these presents for myself & my heirs justly and absolutely remise, release, and for ever Quit-Claim unto the said Horace Arnold and to his heirs and assigns for ever, all such right and title as I the said John Arnold have or ought to have in or to two certain pieces of land in said Haddam the first piece of land is bounded Northerly in land of Ezekiel Shailer & others Easterly on land of Hezekiah & Ezekiel Shailer Southerly on Saybrook line and Westerly on land of Appleten Stevens & David Arnold containing about fifteen acres be the same more or less -- The other piece of land is bounded Northerly on land of John Ventress Easterly on land of William Ely Southerly on land of William Ely and others Westerly on land of William Ely containing about one acre be the same more or less.

        To have and to hold the premises aforesaid unto him the said Horace Arnold and his heirs and assigns, to the only use and behoof of the said Horace Arnold and his heirs and assigns for ever; so that neither I the said John Arnold nor my heirs, or any other person or persons for me or in my name and behalf, shall or will hereafter claim or demand any right or title to the premises, or any part thereof, but they and every of them, shall by these presents be excluded and for ever barred.

        IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 22d day of April Anno Domini, one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight.
