TO ALL PEOPLE TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME-GREETING:
Know Ye, That I Cornelius CHITTENDEN of Saybrook in the County of Middlesex and State of Connecticut for the consideration of Six Dollars received to my full satisfaction of Silas CARTER of Killingworth County and State aforesaid do give, grant, bargain, sell and confirm unto the said Silas a tract or parcel of Land lying in Saybrook commonly called the forty acres being the North West corner of said Land beginning at the South East corner of the Meadow of said CARTER - thence running in a straight Line to the Northeast to the corner of stone wall at this corner of said CARTER's Lot - Bounded Northerly & Westerly on said CARTER. Southerly & Easterly on my own Land containing by estimation one acre more or Less
To have and to hold, the above granted and bargained premises, with the appurtenances thereof, unto him the said Silas CARTER his heirs and assigns forever, to his and their own proper use and behoof. And also I the said Cornelius CHITTENDEN do for my self and __ heirs, executors, and administrators, covenant with the said SILAS his heirs and assigns; that at and until the ensealing these Presents, I am well-seized of the premises as a good indefeasible estate in fee-simple, and have good right to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as is above written, and that the same is free of all incumbrances whatsoever.
And furthermore, I the said Cornelius do by these presents, bind myself and my heirs for ever, to Warrant and Defend the above granted and bargained premises, to him the said Silas his heirs and assigns, against all claims and demands whatsoever.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirty first day of March Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and thirty one
