Entered May ye 16th 1742

To all Christian people to whom these presents Shall Come greeting Know ye that I Josiah CHATFIELD of Killingworth in the County of Newlondon and Coloney of Conecticut in New England for and in Consideration of the sum of thirty three shillings & 8 pence currant money to me in hand paid before the Ensealeing here of by Benjamin CARTER of the afore s'd Killingworth have therefore given Granted Bargained sold and by these presents Do fully freely Clearly and absolutly Give Grant Bargain sell alien Convey and Confirm unto him the s'd Benjamin CARTER his heirs and assigns forever a Certain tract or parcel of salt meadow scituate lying and being in the field Called the planting field in the township of Killingworth afore s'd it being in Length forty three Rods in breadth seven futs containing Eighteen Rods of meadow Bounded south on ye hammock River westerly by s'd Benjamin CARTER's own meadow northerly by Ebenezer HULL's meadow and Eastery by Philip CHATFIELD's meadow To Have and To Hold the above Bargained and granted premises with the apurtenanses there of unto him the s'd Benjamin CARTER his heirs and assigns forever to his and their only propper use benefit and behoof forever and I ye s'd Josiah CHATFIELD for my self my heirs Executors and administrators Do Covenant promise and Grant to and with the s'd Benjamin CARTER his heirs that at and until the Ensealeing of these presents I am the true sole and lawfull owner of the above Bargained and granted premises and am well seised of the premises of a good Indefeasible Estate in fee simple and have good Right to Bargain and sell the same in manner and form as is above written and that the same is free of all Incumbrances in the Law whatsoever and farthermore I the s'd Josiah CHATFIELD Do by these presents Bind my self and my heirs forever to warrant and defend the above granted premsies forever to him the s'd Benjamin CARTER his heirs and assigns against all ye Lawfull Claimes or Demands of any person or persons whomsoever In witness where of I the s'd Josiah CHATFIELD have here unto set my hand an seale this tenth Day of May AD 1742 and in ye fifteenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the second King of Great Brittain &c.
