Deed from Samuel CHAPMAN to Jared SPENCER

To all People to whom these presents shall come Greeting &c Know ye that I Sam'll CHAPMAN of Saybrook in ye County of New London and Colony of Connecticut in New England husbandman for and in consideration of a parcel of land made over to me by a deed of sale bearing date with these presents from under the hand and seal of Jared SPENCER of Saybrook afores'd ye Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and myself therewith fully Satisfied & Contented & thereof and every part & parcel do exonerate acquit and discharge ye said Jared SPENCER his heirs executors and administrators forever by these presents Do freely fully and absolutely give grant exchange convey and confirm unto him ye said Jared SPENCER his heirs and assigns forever a certain parcel of land scituate lying and being in Saybrook afores'd neer a place commonly called the head of Stoney Brook containing by estimation about fifteen acres and a half be it more or less bounded north upon the highway west upon said SPENCER's land South upon my own land East upon the Common the North East Corner is a black Oak Tree marked with the letters S.C. ye Northwest Corner is a white oak tree upon ye Northwest corner down Southward fifty rods & running from the extent of ye said fifty rods Eastwardly to a Wallnut Stub with stones about it which stub is the Northwest Corner of land which was laid out to Sam;ll STANNARD Dec'd to have & to hold the said granted and bargained premises with all ye appurtainances privileges and Commodities to ye same belonging or in anywise appertaining to him the said Jared SPENCER his and assigns >> that before ye ensealing here of I am ye true sole & lawfull owner of ye above bargained premises & have in myself good right full power & lawfull authority to grant exchange convey and confirm s'd bargained premises in manner as aboves'd and that the said Jared SPENCER his heirs and assigns shall and may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter by force & vertue of these presents lawfully peaceably and quietly have hold use occupie possess and enjoy the said demised & bargained premises with the appurtainances free and clear and freely and clearly acquitted exonerated & discharged of an from all and all and all manner of former & other gifts grants sales leases mortgages wills Intails or Incumbrances whatsoever furthermore I ye said Sam'll CHAPMAN for myself my heirs executors & administrators do covenant and Ingage the above demised premises to him the said Jared SPENCER his heirs & assigns against the lawfull claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever forever here after to Warrant Secure & Defend in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this second day of February in the Eight year of the reign of our Sov'n Lord George King of Great Brittain &c. Annoque Domini 1718
