Deed from Nathaniel CHAPMAN to John BUSHNELL Senior
To all People to whome these presents shall come Greeting Know ye that I Nathaniel CHAPMAN Sen'r of Saybrook in ye County of New London & Colony of Connecticut in New England Malster for & in Consideration of ye sum of Ninety & two pounds Currant money of New England to me in hand before ye ensealing hereof well & truly Paid by John BUSHNELL Sen'r of ye Town County & Coloney aforesaid the Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge & myself therewith fully Exonerate Acquit & Discharge ye said John Bushnell his heirs executors Administrators for ever by these presents have given granted Bargained Sold Alienated Conveyed & Confirmed and by these presents Do absolutely give grant bargain sell aliene Convey & Confirm unto him ye said John BUSHNELL his heirs & assigns forever Two Distinct Tracts or Parcels of land scituate lying & being in ye Township of Saybrook aforesaid in Oyster River Quarter one tract of said lying upon a Hill containing by estimation four acres be it more or less bounded South upon land of John CLARKE East & West upon Common & undivided land North upon land of Jonathan PARKER & undivided land the Southeast Corner is Road Oake Tree being the Northwest Corner of said CLARK's marked & stones laid about it, the East Corner is a Wallnut Tree marked & stones laid about it at the roots of it by estimation one hundred & Eight long & Sixty in breadth the other Tract of said Land lyeth near a River called falls River between the Old mine Swamp and the Iron Works being by estimation fifty and four acres bounded on each side on Common land the length being accounted one hundred and twenty Rods & the breadth Seventy two rods the Southwest Corner is a Chestnut tree marked with stones laid at ye Root of it ye Norwest Corner is a Chestnut Tree marked with stones about it, the Northwest corner is a Red Oake Tree marked & stones laid about it the Southeast corner is a White Tree & stones laid about it.
To Have & to Hold the said granted & bargained Premises with all ye appurtainances Priviledges & Commodities to ye same belonging or in anywise appertaining to him ye said John BUSHNELL his heirs & assigns forever to his & their own only use benefit & Behoof forever And I ye said Nath'el CHAPMAN for me my heirs Executors Administrators do Covenant Promise & Grant to and with the said John BUSHNELL his heirs & assigns that before the ensealing hereof I am lawfully seized & possessed of ye same in mine own right as a good Perfect & absolute Estate of Inheritance in fee simple and have in myself good Right full power & lawfull authority to grant bargain sell convey & Confirm said Bargained Premises in manner as abovesaid & that the said John BUSHNELL his heirs & assigns shall & may from time to time & all times forever hereafter by force & virtue of these presents lawfully peaceably & quietly have hold use occupie possess & Injoy the said Demised and bargained premises with all ye appurtainances free & clear & freely & clearly acquitted exonerated & discharged of and from all & all manner of former or other gifts Grants Bargains sales leases mortgages wills Entails Jynters Dowries Judements executions Incumbrances & Extents furthermore I ye said Nath'el CHAPMAN for myself my heirs Executors & administrators do Covenant & Ingage the above Demised premises to him ye said John BUSHNELL his heirs & assigns against ye lawfull claims or Demands of any person or persons whatsoever hereafter to warrant Secure & Defend
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 28th day of July in ye tenth year of our Sovereign Lord George King of Great Brittain & in ye year of our Lord God 1724
