Deed Between Robert CARTER and John STEVENS

December ye 11th 1718

This Indenture made between Robert CARTER Carpenter of ye one part and John STEVENS Blacksmith of the other part both of Killingworth In the County of New London & Coloney of Connecticut New England Witnesseth that the s'd Robert CARTER for and in Consideration of the sum of sixteen pounds currant money of the Coloney afores'd in hand paid unto him the s'd Robert CARTER by the s'd John STEVENS at & before the Ensealing & Delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof the s'd Robert doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and Every part therby doth ? also ? acquit & discharge the s'd John STEVENS his heirs Executors & administrators and for divers other Good Causes & Considerations from the s'd Robert CARTER there unto moveing, Hath Demised, Granted, Bargained, passed over, and Confirmed & by these presents the s'd Robert CARTER Doth, Demise, Grant, Pass over and Confirm unto him the s'd John STEVENS his heirs, Executors, Administrators & assigns, all ? three several parcels or tracts of Land (viz) First one parcell or tract of orchard Land and Swamp scituate and lying in the Township of Gilford in the County of New haven and Coloney afores'd Containing by estimation two acres & a half be it more or less, as it is Bounded Easterly by the Land of James HUKER southerly by the Land of John HILL, westerly by the highway & northerly by the Land of John SERANTUM, Also the other two parcells of Land scituate Lying and being in the Rei?er quarter in the township of Killingworth afores'd ? a piece of Land in ? seven Rods in Length from y'e Country Road or Comon ? northerly to the Right on a ? Southerly by the passonag Land, northerly by the Land of Joseph LETERY? Also one acre and a quarter of Land more or less in Length thirty on rods in breadth six rods and a half Bounded south Easterly & northeasterly by the Land of John JULL, Southwesterly by the Land originally George SANDERS ? and northwesterly by the highway To Have and to Hold the afore s'd parcells of Land and Every part and parcel there of with their & Every of their appurtenances unto him the s'd John STEVENS his heirs Executors Administrators and assigns for ever & the s'd Robert CARTER doth for him self, his heirs, Executors and Administrators and assigns that it shall and may be Lawfull to and for the s'd John STEVENS his heirs Executors Administrators and assigns quietly and peaceably to Have, Hold occupie possess Injoy all and singular the above Demised and Bargained premises with their and Every of their appurtenances from time to time and of all times for Ever here after without the ? Lett or interruption of him the s'd Robert CARTER his heirs, Executors, Administrators or any other person or persons whatsoever Laying any Lawfull Claim thereunto or to any part thereof and also freed and discharged of an from all and all manner of former Bargains, Sales, Gifts, Grants Judgements, Executions and other Charges and incumbrances whatsoever had made or suffered by them or Either of them. Pranded? All?? It is never the Less agreed and Conefided by and between these parties to these presents and it is the true Intent and meaning thereof that if the s'd Robert CARTER his heirs Executors Administrators or assigns or Either of them Shall well and freely pay or call to be paid unto the s'd John STEVENS his heirs Executors or assigns the full & just sum of sixteen pounds & Lawfull Interest in Currant money of the Coloney afore'sd & ? before the first day of August next came ? ? null be in the year sixteen hundred and Eighteen and in the now Dwelling House of the s'd John STEVENS in Killingworth, that then this present indenture, Demise and grant and Every Claus and article therein Contained shall ? determined to the Conrary thereof in any wise not with ? In witness whereof I have hereunto Let my hand and seale this twenty fourth Day of December Annodominie seventeen hundred & seventeen and in the third year of the Reign of our Soveran Lord George King of Great Britton &c.
