Deed from Dan CARTER to James STEEVENS
To all People to whom these Presents shall come:--GREETING.
KNOW YE, That I Dan CARTER of Haddam in the County of Middlesex & State of Connecticut.
for the consideration of Two hundred & twenty two dollars & 22 cents
Received to my full satisfaction of James STEEVEMS of Killingworth in said County
Do give, grant, bargain, fell, and confirm unto the said James STEEVENS his heirs and assigns forever two thirds of my old dwelling house and old shop together with two thirds of the tract of land containing about two acres on which s'd buildings stand said land lies in said Killingworth and is bounded east by highway every way else by Cornelius PARMELE's land. Also two thirds of another tract of land which lies a little northerly from the above described which tract contains about 5 acres & 76 rods more or less. Bounded east by highway north part by land lately owned by Simon PIERSON and part by Elisha LANE, west by ? LANE & south by Cornelius PARMELE. The other third part of said premises belongs to my Hon'd Mother.
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the above granted and bargained premises, with the appurtenances thereof, unto him the said James STEEVENS his heirs and assigns forever, to their own proper use and behoof. And also, the said Dan CARTER do for my self and my heirs, executors and administrators, covenant with the said James STEEVENS his heirs and assigns; that all and until the ensealing these presents I am well seized of the premises as a good indefeasible estate in fee simple, and have good to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as is above written, and that the same is free of all incumbrances whatsoever.
AND FURTHERMORE, I the said Dan CARTER
Do by these presents, bind my self and my heirs forever to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises, to him the said James STEEVENS his heirs and assigns, against all claims and demands whatsoever.
IN WITNESS whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 1st day of May, Anno Domini 1807
