Deed from Hubbell CARTER 2d to Linus STANNARD

To all People to whom these Presents shall come:--Greeting.

Know Ye, That I Hubbel CARTER 2d of Killingworth in the County of Middlesex & State of Connecticut

for the consideration of Four hundred Dollars

Received to my full satisfaction of Linus STANNARD of Saybrook in said Middlesex County

Do give, grant, bargain, sell and confirm unto the said Linus STANNARD his heirs and assigns forever a tract of land lying in s'd Killingworth near the Brickyard so called containing about fifteen acres be the same more or less. Bounded westerly on highway southerly on Nathan KELSEY's land easterly & northerly on Hubbel CARTER's Land with the dwelling standing thereon. Also another tract of land lying in s'd Killingworth known by the name of Hubbell's orchard containing about three acres & twenty four rods. Bounded easterly on Josiah CARTER's land southerly and westerly on Hubbel CARTER's land and northerly on Highway.--

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the above granted and bargained premises, with the appurtenances thereof, unto him the said Linus STANNARD his heirs and assigns forever, to him and their own proper use and behoof. And I the said Hubbel CARTER 2ddo for myself and my heirs, executors and administrators, covenant with the said Linus STANNARD his heirs and assigns; that at and until the ensealing these presents I am well seized of the premises, as a good indefeasible estate in fee simple, and have good right to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as it is above written, and that the same is free of all incumbrances whatsoever.

AND FURTHERMORE, I the said Hubbel CARTER 2ddo by these present bind myself and my heirs forever, to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises, to him the said Linus STANNARD his heirs and assigns, against all claims and demands whatsoever. The condition of this Deed is such that if the said Hubbel CARTER 2d shall on or before the tenth day of August in the year one thousand eight hundred & sixteen pay or cause to be paid to the said Linus STANNARD the full amount of a Note of hand this day given by said CARTER to said STANNARD for the sun of four hundred dollars together with the interest that shall have arisen thereon then this deed to be void otherwise to be in full force.

IN WITNESS whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal the twenty ninth day of June AD 1815
And under written - Silas CARTER - then this deed is to be void
