Deed from William CARTER to Achilles HURD

TO ALL PEOPLE TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME - Greeting.
Know Ye, That I W'm CARTER of Killingworth County of Middlesex and State of Connecticut for the consideration of four hundred and forty dollars received to my full satisfaction of Achilles HURD do give, grant, bargain, sell, and confirm unto the said Achilles HURD his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract of land in said town of Killingworth in the first society with a dwelling house and other buildings thereon standing being bounded as follows, Westerly on land of Oliver & Hiel HULL, Northerly on land of David BUELL, Easterly on my own land and Southerly on highway or Main street, containing about seventy rods of land be the same more or less.-

To have and to hold the above granted and bargained premises, with the appurtenances thereof unto the said Achilles HURD his heirs and assigns for ever, to his and their own proper use and behoof. And also, I the said W'm CARTER do for my self and my heirs, executors, and administrators, covenant with the said Achilles HURD his heirs and assigns; that at and until the ensealing these presents I am well seized of the premises as a good indefeasible estate in fee-simple, and have good right to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as is above written, and that the same is free of all incumbrances whatsoever.

And furthermore, I the said W'm CARTER do by these presents bind myself and my heirs for ever to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises, to him the said Achilles HURD, his heirs and assigns, against all claims and demands whatsoever.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eighteenth day of September Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven.
