Know all men by these presents that we Sarah Carter and Samuel Carter of the town of Clinton County of Middlesex and State of Connecticut have made ordained and constituted and appointed and by these presents do make constitute and appoint Barber Grinnell of the town of Clinton County of Middlesex and State aforesaid our true and lawful attorney for us and in our names and for our use to ask, demand, sure for recourse and receive of an from the administrators on the Estate of Silas Carter late of Clinton deceased whatsoever is on may be our right or shares in the Estate of Silas Carter decd belonging to said Sarah Carter and Samuel Carter as heirs at law to said Estate both real and personal and to do and transact all lawful business concerning the settlement of said estate which would be proper for us to do if we were present. And we do hereby give and grant to our said attorney our full and whole power in and concerning the premises and will notify and confirm whatsoever he shall lawfully and or do therein. And our prior Attorney is hereby authorized to ?? receipt or receipts in our names for all goods or money he may receive in our accounts.

Know all men by these Presents That we Betsey Carter and Silas P. Carter of Clinton in the County of Middlesex and state of Connecticut Administrators on the estate of Silas Carter late of Clinton deceased by virtue of an order of the Court of Probate for the district of Clinton dated December 14th AD 1840 authorizing and directing us to sell or ? at public or private sale the Real Estate of he said deceased first giving notice of the time and place of sale by advertisement posted on the public sign post nearest to the said Real Estate to be sold and within the same town and also by advertisement published in a newspaper printed in New haven as shall be sufficient to raise the sum of three hundred seventy eight dollars and sixty eight cents that being the amount of debts and charges allowed by said Court of Probate against said estate exceeding the value of the personal Estate of the said deceased, having first given notice of the time and place of sale by advertisement in a newspaper printed in New haven and also by advertisement posted upon the public sign post nearest to said Real Estate sold and within the said town of Clinton in p? of a private sale to Barber Grinnell of said Clinton and in consideration of the sum of three hundred seventy eight Dollars and sixty eight cents to us paid by the said Barber Grinnell of said Clinton who was the purchaser of the Estate hereinafter described the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge do grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said Barber Grinnell his heirs and ?? forever all the right title interest claim and demand which the said Silas Carter had at the time of his decease in and to one certain tract or parcel land in said Clinton called the Pierson lot containing twenty five acres and thirty two rods Bounded as follows (??) Westerly on the Highway Northerly by land of the Heirs of Silas Carter Easterly by the Highway and Southerly partly by Jesse Stannard and partly by land occupied by Zebediah et Cobb and by the Highway Reserving the privilege of the heirs of said Silas Carter and their heirs and assigns ?? and ?? the North part of said described land with teams, cattle horses and sheep.

To Have and to hold the said granted and bargained Premises with the appurtenances thereof unto him the said Barber Grinnell his heirs and assigns to his own and their own proper use and benefit forever and the said Betsey Carter and Silas P. Carter Administrators aforesaid do hereby ?? with the said Barber Grinnell heirs and assigns that we have full power and authority as Administrators aforesaid to grant and convey the described premises in manner and form as aforesaid for ? our heirs executors ad administrators do further covenant to warrant and defend the same to him the said barber Grinnell his heirs and assign against the claim of any person or persons whosoever claiming by from or under us as aforesaid.

Know all men by presents that I Samuel Carter of New Lyme in the County of Ashtabula and State of Ohio in consideration of one hundred Dollars received to my full satisfaction of Sidney S. Carter of town County & State aforesaid do hereby remise release and forever Quit Claim unto the said Sidney S Carter his heirs and ? forever all m title interest and estate legal and equitable in the following premises and apportionees situate in Clinton township Middlesex County and State of Connecticut being all of my right to the real estate of Silas Carter deceased and set to me by or distribution of said estate that is to pay my undivided right in the east half of the dwelling house of the late Silas carter aforesaid also my undivided right in the east half of the barn of the said Carter and all my right to the land around to the said Dwelling house and Barn set to me by the said distribution. Also all my right to twelve acres thirty one rods of land known as the Huit land belonging to the Estate of the said Silas Carter.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty second Day of May AD 1841.

Know all men by these presents that I Sidney S. Carter of the town of New Lyme Ashtabula County and State of Ohio guardian of the persons and Estates of George D. Carter Cynthia U. Carter and Austin O. Carter minors under the age of twenty one years by virtue of license and authority to me granted by the Court of Probate for the District of Clinton I having given bond with surety so the acting Judge of said court as the law directs to sell the real estate of said George D Cynthia U and Austin O Carter situated in said Clinton and in West Brook in said Middlesex County and consisting in part of the following described real estate situated in said Clinton ? Three undivided rights in the east half of the Dwelling house late residence of their father Silas Carter decd and the land set with said shares in said house and the small buildings valued at $83 25/100 Also those undivided rights in the east half of the Barn near said house and land ? with said part of the Barn valued at $30 36/100 And for the consideration of one hundred and thirteen Dollars and sixty one cents received to my bank satisfaction of Silas P. Carter of said Clinton do grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said Silas P. Carter the above described estate of the said George D, Cynthia U and Austin O Carter minors as aforesaid.

To have and to hold the said granter and bargained premises with the appurtenances thereof to the said Silas P. Carter his heirs and assigns forever And I the said Sidney S Carter as guardian aforesaid do covenant with the said Silas P Carter his heirs and assigns that I have full power and authority in said capacity to grant and convey the described premises in manner and from aforesaid And for myself my heirs executors and Administrators do further convent to warrant the same to him the said Silas P. Carter his heirs and assigns against the claims of ay person or persons whatsoever claiming by from or under me as guardian aforesaid. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 8th Day of June AD 1841

To all People to whom these Presents shall come-GREETING:

KNOW YE, That I George D. Carter of Clinton in the County of Middlesex and State of Connecticut In consideration of One Hundred and Fifty Dollars Full satisfaction of Betsey Carter of said Clinton Do Remise, Release, and forever QUIT CLAIM unto the said Betsey Carter And unto her Heirs and Assigns forever, all the Right, title, Interest, Claim, and Demand, whatsoever, as I the said Releasor have or ought to have, in or to Twenty four acres and sixty two rods of Land, known as the Hewit lot, formerly belonging to the Estate of Silas Carter deceased, and comprising the undivided right and distributed to Phebe L. Carter and also the undivided rights in said Lot, distributed to myself in the settlement of said Estate. Bounded North by Land owned by Ely A. Elliott East by loan owned by Benjamin Wright-South by land set to Silas P Carter and now owned by Charles K. Brown, and West by the Highway.

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the Premises with all their Appurtenances, unto the said Release her Heirs and Assigns forever, So that neither I the Releasor nor my Heirs, nor any other person under me or them, shall hereafter have any Claim, right or title, in or to the Premises, or any part thereof; but there from I and they are by these Presents forever barred and secluded.-In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this twenty seventh day of February Anno Domini 1846

"Know all Men by these Presents. That we Samuel Carter and Nancy L. Carter wife of the said Samuel Carter of the town of Rome, and county of Ashtabula and the State of Ohio, in consideration of One Hundred Dollars, received to our full satisfaction of Betsey E. Carter of the town of Clinton, County of Middlesex and State of Connecticut do hereby remise, release and forever Quit-Claim unto the said Betsey E. Carter, all our right, title, and interest, in an undivided right set to Samuel Carter in his Fathers Estate (Silas Carter deceased) situated in the Town of Clinton, County of Middlesex and State of Connecticut, known by what is commonly call the Huit lot bounded North by Eli Elliotts Land, East by Benjamin Wrights Land, South by Land set to Silas P. Carter and and the Highway, West by the Highway, and embraces all our right to said Huit lot, and I the said Samuel Carter and Nancy L. Carter do covenant with the above named Betsey E. Carter that neither we nor our heirs, nor any on under us or in our names shall have any right, title, or interest in the above described premises, and we the said Samuel and Nancy L. Carter do confer the same to Betsey E. Carter and her heirs and assigns forever to have and to hold for her own use and service.

Before me Erastas Chester a justice of the Peace in and for said county, personally appeared the within named Samuel Carter & Nancy L. Carter his wife and acknowledged the signing & sealing of the within conveyance to be their voluntary act & deed & the said Nancy L. being at the same time examined by me separately & apart from her sd husband, and the contents of sd deed or conveyance made known to her by me. She then declared that she did voluntarily sign, seal, & acknowledge the same & that she is still satisfied therewith this 8th day of April A.D. 1846
