Deed from Joseph CARTER to Daniel EDWARDS
To all People to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know ye that I Joseph CARTER of Say-Brook in the County of New London & Colony of Connecticut in New England and for and in consideration of ye sum of Twenty four Pounds in Currant Money of New England Rec'd of Daniel EDWARDS of said Say-Brook in ye County and Colony aforesaid have granted & sold & do by these presents give, grant bargain sell convey & confirm unto the said Dan'll EDWARDS of Say-Brook & to his heirs & assigns (Two certain tracts of land lying in Township of Say-Brook Oyster River Quarter: the first piece lyes on ye East side of my farm which I now live on & is bounded as follows, beginning at ye Norwest corner of said EDWARDS land which is a white oak staddle with stones about it thence Southerly Ninety two Rods to his Southwest Corner, by estimation about three acres & three rods the Next piece of land lyes at ye Northeast corner of my farm beginning at a red oak tree thence thirty two Rods to his South-West to a Black Oak tree, thence 26 rods Southerly to a stake with a heap of stones about it thence East forty two rods to a stake with stones about it thence twenty six Rods to ye first mentioned bound.
To have and to hold ye above granted & bargained premises with all the appurtenances unto him the said Dan'll EDWARDS his heirs & assigns forever to his & their own proper use & behoof & I ye said Joseph CARTER do for myself my heirs &c., Covenant with the said Daniel EDWARDS his heirs & assigns that at & untill the ensealing of these presents I am lawfully seized of ye same & have good right full power to bargain and sell the same in manner and form as abovesaid and that the presents Bind myself my heirs forever to Warrant & Defend the above granted and bargained premises to him the said Dan'll EDWARDS his heirs and assigns against all claims and demands whatsoever.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this sixth day of May A.D. 1745.
