Deed from Samuel CARTER to Elisha CLARKE

To all People to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know ye that I Sam'l CARTER of Say-Brook in ye County of New London & Colony of Connecticut in New England for & in consideration of one hundred & fifty Pounds old tenor in hand paid by Elisha CLARKE of Say-Brook in ye County and Colony aforesaid Do give grant bargain sell & confirm unto ye said Elisha CLARKE his heirs executors administrators & assigns a certain piece of land scituate lying in ye bounds of Say-Brook in Chester Society containing about twenty one acres & a half butted and bounded as followeth South thirty eight rods on ye line dividing between Potopague Quarter & Pataconke lands, East on ye Country road that leads from Say-Brook to Haddam, North 58 rods partly on ye highway that leads Westward & partly on land formerly belonging to Robt. BATE Dec'd & West on said CARTER's land with all ye profits, priviledges & appurtenances that belong or in any wise appertain to ye same.

To Have and to Hold ye above granted and bargained premises unto him ye said Elisha CLARKE his heirs and assigns forever to his proper use & Behoof & also I the aforesaid Sam'll CARTER do for myself my heirs executors administrators & assigns Do Covenant with the said Elisha CLARKE his heirs and assigns that at ye ensealing hereof I am the true sole & lawfull owner of ye above bargained premises & seized of ye same as a good indefeasible estate in fee simple & have good right to bargain & sell the same in manner & form as is above written & that the same if free and clear from all incumbrances whatsoever,

And Furthermore I ye abovesaid Sam'll CARTER do by these presents Bind myself my heirs executors & administrators & assigns forever To Warrant and Defend the above granted and bargained premises to him the abovesaid Elisha CLARKE his heirs & assigns against all Claims & demands whatsoever.

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 23d day of November in ye 18th year of our majesties Reign George ye Second King of Great Brittain France, & Ireland Ano Dom. 1744.
