Entered August ye 23d 1731
To all Christian People tow home these presents shall Come Greeting Know ye that I Samuel CARTTER of Killingworth in the County of New London & Coloney of Conecticut in New England for a valluable Consideration in Land by way of Exhange made over to me by a sufficient Instrument in wrighting under the hand and seale of my Honoured father Robert CARTTER of the Town county & Colony afore s'd bareing date with these presents have by way of Exchange Given Granted made over Conveyed and Confirmed and by these presents Do for my self my heirs Executors & Administrators fully freely and absolutly Give Grant make over Convey and confirm unto him my s'd father Robert CARTTER & to his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcell of upland scituate in Killingworth afore s'd at a place comonly Called Soopus it being a part of a tract of land formerly belonging to Capt. Henry CRANE Late of s'd Killingworth Deceast begining at the southwest Corner at a heap of stoans runing thence northerly forty Rods toa heap of stoans thence Eastwardly twenty Eight Rods to a heap of stoans thence southerly forty six Rods to the highway at a heap of stoans thence westwardly twenty seven Rods to the first mentioned also a piece of Land adjoyning to the Easterly sid of the afore mentioned Land and southerly to the highway it being the orchard & in Length from the highway notherd Eighteen Rods in Breadth Eastward from the afore mentioned Land seven Rods Containing in all both described pieces Eight acres & three quarters more or less Bounded westerly & southerly by the highway northerly & Easterly by Land belonging to the s'd Robert CARTTER & Samuel CARTTER in partnership which they agree shall be divided when the partners that shall be Concerned se Cause to divide it, s'd Samuel CARTTER Reserveing the length of the house and a Rod at the west End of the house half the Breadth of the house to takeing in half the well so out southwardly to the highway also the south sid of the house to be Divided from the Ridg of the top by a plumdonn to the Camber floore To Have and To Hold the above Exchanged Granted and Confirmed premises as above s'd with all the appurtenances privilidges and Comodities to the same belonging or in any waies appertaining (Excepting only of above Excepted) to him my father Robert CARTTER his heirs and assigns forever to his and their only propper use benifit and behoof forever & I the s'd Samuel CARTTER for my self my heirs Executors & Administrators Do Covenant grant and promise to and with the s'd Robert CARTTER his heirs and assigns that before the Ensealeing here of I am the tru sole and Lawfull owner of the above granted premises and have in my self good Right full power & Lawfull authority to grant & Convey the same in manner of above s'd & that the s'd Robert CARTTER his heirs and assigns shall & may from tie to time and at all times forever hereafter by force & virtue of these presents Lawfully peaceably & quietly & quietly Have Hold use occupie posess & Enjoy the above granted premises with the appurtenances free and Clear freely and Clearly acquitted Exonerated and discharged of an from all and all manner of rformer or other Gifts Grants Bargains sales or incumbrances in the Law whatsoever, moreover I the s'd Samuel CARTTER for my self my heirs Executors & Administrators Do Covenant and Ingage the above granted premises to him my s'd father Robert CARTTER his heirs and assigns, against the Lawfull Claimes or Demands of any person or persons whome soever forever Rere after to warrant secur and Defend In witness whereof I the s'd Samuel CARTTER have here with set my hand and seale this sixth Day of August Anno=Dominie: 1731: and in the fourth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord Georg the second King of Great Brittain &c.
