Deed between Robert CARTER from Capt. Samuel CHAPMAN
Know all men by these presents that I Sam'll CHAPMAN of Say Brook in ye County of New London & Colony of Connecticut in New England for & in Consideration of ye sum of fourteen pounds ten shillings money of ye Colony aforesaid in hand paid by Mr. Robert CARTER of Killingworth in ye County afores'd the Rec't whereof I do hereby acknowledge & myself therewith fully satisfied and contented have given granted bargained sold alienated conveyed made over and by these presents Do freely fully & absolutely give grant bargain sell aliene convey & Confirm unto him ye said Robert CARTER his heirs & assigns forever one fifty pound Right in all ye undivided lands meaning to be excepted what is already agreed upon to be divided & laid out in Oyster River Quarter in the Township of Saybrook afores'd together with twenty eight acres of land in the last Division in said Quarter already agreed upon to be Divided & laid out with all the appurtainances priviledges & Commodities to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to the same. To Have and to Hold the said granted twenty acres to be taken up by said CARTER his heirs or assigns forever free & clear of & from all & all manner of other or former gifts grants bargains sales leases mortgages wills Entails Joynters Dowries Judgments Executions Incumbrances & Extents & furthermore I ye said Sam'll CHAPMAN for myself my heirs executors and administrators Do Covenant & agree to and with ye said CARTER his heirs & assigns that he & they shall forever quietly & peaceably hold use and possess ye said granted premises with the appurtainances & that the same to said CARTER and his assigns forever ye s'd Sam'll CHAPMAN his heirs executors & administrators will Warrant Secure & Defend in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 24th day of August in ye tenth year of his Majesties Reign Anno Domini 1723, Signed Sealed & delivered in presents of us
