Deed from Benjamin CARTER to Joseph CARTER

To all Christian People to whom these presents shall come Greeting: Know ye that I Benjamin CARTER of Killingworth in the County of New London & Colony of Connecticut in New England for a Valuable consideration to me in hand paid before ye ensealing hereof by Joseph CARTER of Saybrook in the County and Colony of Connecticut have given granted bargained sold alienated conveyed & confirmed and by these presents Do freely fully and absolutely give grant Bargain sell aliene convey and confirm unto him ye said Joseph CARTER his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land scituate in Saybrook East River Quarter Beginning at the Northeast corner at a Chestnut Tree marked with stones about it Running thence Westerly Sixty four rods to a Red oak tree marked stones about it thence Southerly Sixteen Rods to a Chestnut tree marked stones about it thence Easterly Sixty Rods to a heap of stones thence Northerly forty six rods to the first mentioned bound or corner containing Twelve acres Bounded Easterly upon the land of Joseph CARTER Northerly upon the land of Sam'll PLATTS, Westerly by Common land Southerly by the land of the said Benjamin CARTER.

To have and to Hold the said granted and bargained premises with all the appurtenances priviledges and commodities to the same belonging or in any way appertaining to him the said Joseph CARTER his heirs and assigns forever to his and their own proper use and behoof for ever and I the said Benjamin CARTER for myself my heirs and executors & administrators do Covenant promise and grant to and with the said Joseph CARTER his heirs and assigns that before the ensealing hereof I am the true sole & lawfull owner of the above bargained premises and have in myself good right full power and lawfull authority to bargain & sell ye same in manner and form as abovesaid and that the said CARTER his heirs and assigns shall and may from time t time and at all times for ever hereafter by force and virtue of these presents lawfully peaceably and quietly have hold use occupie possess and enjoy the said Demised premises free & clear freely and clearly acquitted exonerated and discharged of & from all and all manner of former or other gifts grants bargains sales or incumbrances in the law whatsoever moreover I the said Benjamin CARTER for myself my heirs executors and administrators Do by these presents Bind myself my heirs to engage ye above demised premises to him the said Joseph CARTER his heirs and assigns forever against the lawfull claims or demands of any person or persons whomsoever forever hereafter to Warrant Secure and Defend.

In Witness whereof I the said Benjamin CARTER have hereunto set my hand and seal this eleventh day of March A.D. 1746 and in the ninteenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the second King of Great brittain
