Deed from Robert CARTER to John CARTER

To all Christian Peoele to whom these presents shall come, Greeting: Know ye that I Robert CARTER of Killingworth in the County of New London and Colony of Connecticut in New England, for a valuable Consideration to me in hand paid before the ensealing of these presents by John CARTER of the Town County and Colony aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have given, granted, bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed and confirmed and by these presents Do freely fully and absolutely give, grant, bargain, sell, aliene, convey and confirm unto him the said John CARTER his heirs and assign forever a certain tract of land scituate Oyster river Quarter in SayBrook upon a hill called the High hill beginning about three rods Southward of a white oak tree which is John CARTERs Southeast Corner of thence running Easterly 56 rods to a black oak staddle which is a Corner of Mr. MURDOCKs land, thence Northward 40 rods to two Chestnut Trees being a Corner of Mr ELLIOTs land, thence Westerly 60 rods to a Wallnut tree or staddle in CARTERs line, thence Southerly 40 rods to where we began Also a small piece of land on ye South side of John CARTERs land it bounds North 36 rods on his land and east on ye above said piece of land three rods South on James WRIGHTs land 36 rods and West about half a rod on Common land, the first described piece is bounded south partly on James WRIGHT's land & partly on Common land, East on Mr. MURDOCKs land, North on ye Common and West on John CARTERs land both said pieces contain fifteen acres and all the tress above are marked and stones about them.

To have and to hold the above fifteen acres of land with all the appurtenances priviledges and commodities to ye same belonging or in anywise appertaining unto him the said John CARTER his heirs and assigns forever to his and their only use benefit and behoof forever freely acquittedand discharged from all Incumbrances n law whatsoever and I the said Robert CARTER for myself my heirs executors and Administrators Do Covenant Promise and Grant to and with the said John CARTER his heirs and assigns that before the ensealing of these presents I am the true sole and lawfull owner of the above bargained premises and have good right full power and lawfull authority to bargain and sell ye same in manner and form as above said and hereby bind and oblige myself my heirs executors to Warrant Secure and Defend the said granted premises forever to him the said John CARTER his heirs and assigns forever against the lawfull claims or demands of any person or persons whomsoever.

In Witness Whereof I the said Robert CARTER have hereunto set my hand and seal this 2d day of July A. D. 1735.
